Yesterday's Rose

@acb I literally have a copy of Turbo Pascal 7.0 for DOS on my shelf! Happy that Turbo Vision is open source. Tomorrow: I wish all of the Borland Turbo Pascal and Turbo C/C++ compiler stuff was open source. It's MS-DOS. It's time to *let it go.* Day after tomorrow: WHY IS WORD PERFECT 5.1 STILL CLOSED SOURCE? [EDIT] Day after that: WE NEED TO OPEN SOURCE WORDSTAR. GEORGE R. R. MARTIN DEPENDS ON IT.

@saku Isävainajalle tuli Bebekin katalogi postitse ja sieltä tilattiin useampikin komponentti joista hän kolvaili monenkin vahvistimen. Itse ruinasin sieltä rakennussarjoja, jotka hän väsäsi. Isommista projekteista muistan itse ysärillä maagisen käynnin Tampereen Bebekissä jossa ostettiin komponentit tähän PC-käyttäjien suuresti suosimaan härpäkkeeseen. Tietäjät tietää.

@2600 Oof. Academic institutions *really* shouldn't be living under fear of the government. It's usually, you know, a sign that something bad is happening.

@Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt Very cool, though I don't think the electricity warning sign is enough. Maybe something more specific like this, just a quick mockup:

@graste "Microsoft Copilot. We don't know what it is and what it does, but it's got electrolytes, it's what the plants crave." (The plants, in fact, very much do not crave for it)

#EpicGames Store: Me: "I've set up both #TOTP #2FA and email 2FA, right?" Epic: "Yep" Me: "And I've specified that I should use TOTP as the primary 2FA option, right?" Epic: "Yep" Me: "Oh goodie. Email is far less preferable, I'm glad this is a modern service and uses TOTP." Epic: "Glad we agree" Me: "Okay, let's do this. Go." Epic: "Sending email for 2FA" Me: "What" [Email lands in spam, too] Me: "What the shit" #videogames #security

@Rycochet@furs.social I remember a lot of technology news reporting from early 2000s. "US gov/some US state introduces a completely boneheaded tech law" and the illustration is a smiling politician in a suit in front of a flag. All that was missing from the caption were the words "the guy responsible for all this silliness". ...maybe we should do the same thing about boneheaded things companies do, too. Just the pic of the CEO. Not just, you know, random shots from the factory or exterior shots of the oppressive corporate HQ.

@derpostillon@mastodon.social I don't speak German, but I assume the image is about the debate about DB punctuality finally catching up with them or something. Look, here in Finland, the trains *might* sometimes be 5 minutes late if the weather is really bad, but to VR's credit, we haven't summoned any demons yet!!!
