@brianleroux Ah. Jest. One of my favorite features is that if you for some reason have a syntax error in your test, Jest will just eat the error and pass the test despite how much it fails. Makes me trust the tests 200%.

@raganwald@social.bau-ha.us Sure, but from a branding perspective most want a unified branding and user experiences across all surfaces.

Then branding are in direct conflict with adopting the deep integration of the platform.

Most I encounter advocate for a unified branding and UX across all surfaces but still argue "native feeling" for choosing what technology to implement apps with.

So; I still don't get it.

"Native feeling" is a term I encounter quite often when discussing application technology.

Can someone explain what it means to me because I don't know and no one using it have been able to explain it to me.

Though; this term seem to poses super powers when it comes to decision making on how to implement applications.

If you are a technical lead; you should read this one: The Ultimate Design Maturity Guide for Tech Leaders.

"In today’s tech-driven market, superior products alone don’t suffice; you must be design-driven in order to outperform your peers"

The core of this is spot on.

Though; Add Tauri as an alternative to Electron and one cover the gated mobile app segment as well.

tonsky.me

Claude is an Electron App because we’ve lost native

Article argues that Claude is not an Electron app not because LLMs can’t do it, but because there are no advantages left for native

@snugug I've used PouchDB and CouchDB for larger projects. PouchDB uses indexDB under the hood. But, its an abstraction on top and in many cases I don't need that. For simpler and smaller projects I have not found something out of the box. I always end up with some kind of custom. Would love something out of the box though.

@jaffathecake How would you do that with an avif in a service worker? I can think of a way to do it with other image formats, but not avif. @gundersen

@jaffathecake Right. My thought was to use OffScreenCanvas and related APIs to get what one need from blob data in the ServiceWorker. But, that excludes AVIF due to those APIs. @gundersen
