abstractions left over from a cover design process. should these become more shirts?
@sideb0ard@post.lurk.org posted a preview of the Algorithmic Art Assembly zine, which will be out at the event - https://www.instagram.com/p/DUmj1wAlEk7/?img_index=13&igsh=M2FhaG40cW5qaHg2
the prints are looking tasty!
I contributed a set of images and photos, & there’s intriguing stuff from @sarahghp@post.lurk.org , Sebastian Camens, and others
Mezzanine Swimmers throwback - mastered this a few years ago, still a very chunky earworm

@t36s you're welcome, the algorithm has been throwing s few very random liminal industrial things at me, saving them on my same playlist as backrooms videos: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLq0yR_YcVw5Ki9Our0BNV4WfGXDlGcoDs&si=l_d3DKKSm6-NCtav

the Rain World Minecraft project is really coming along, woah
haven't actually played either, but I'm consistently impressed from afar by how RW's art direction sticks out among all the dystopian megastructures these days
out now: "fast🔲⚫️ (schaffel dub)" on Algorithmic Art Assembly v3.0

@hellocatfood @emenel ahh, didn't know that. yeah that would worry me given how easy overloading this type of art tends to be
part of me is still like "get back into GEM, it will last forever" but I do like the other features I get with all these alternatives

@hellocatfood @emenel cables has an offline version now too (at least on mac?). not sure if it requires connectivity for any kind of account reasons tho.
I haven't dug into it much because of time sunk into TD and Blender, but good to know the docs are good, that's one of my biggest issues with TD for sure
out now - blob rave 01: 21-2 / duskfoam2

@hellocatfood these make me wonder what it would be like if you did some stereograms! I think I’ve only seen one in my life that was animated.

@GubbiAnn@mastodon.art I’ve used Ableton, Sunvox, and Plogue Bidule for feedback, the only real requirement is routing a track back into itself, the hp + compressor so it doesn’t fry, and a little input to start (since there’s no noise inherent to the system)
most of the music I’ve released with this alias is made with groovebox-ish live patches I made in Bidule. in those I have a matrix mixer for effects that saves routing with each pattern preset, and I can switch between feedback or not as I perform.

@GubbiAnn@mastodon.art also re: the limiter: it could be something weird with DC offset or sub frequencies crushing your output. like if the signal is unbalanced, then gets compressed.
I mostly do feedback within a laptop, but even with digital it’s very easy for the DC offset to run off in some direction. so I’ve always got a high pass and a compressor within the feedback chain.
(also, very relatable re: venues scared of noise music haha 😂)

@t36s interesting! yeah it’s one of the better victims of that process for sure, up there with Obere Wasserschlosskammer

@tsrono@mastodon.social @d01@mastodon.cloud thanks both of you! that inner part was probably my favorite of the set too... the darkness 👻
overall a great experience being approached to do a commission w/ a bunch of ideas and aesthetics I was already into! a lot of fun getting to push myself more towards environment art while still incorporating collage and graphic art ideas

@hellocatfood cc: @emenel because this is psychically mirroring a conversation on the Tokinogake discord yesterday
new single out tomorrow, full discography now 75% off. load up on the sludge!
I have a playlist of my music likes on youtube that I've never tried to put in order: falling asleep to Black Renaissance and waking up to this T. Raumschiere track made some kind of musical sense to me tonight... the fact that I slept through punk beats by Annie Anxiety and a speech about politics by Eric Cantona def made less sense

think I've got a few fellow Blame! fans on here so hey... this 2003 anime version is kinda great. 100% incomprehensible without the manga, but the mood is so much more on point than the later Netflixslop version

@grahamdunning looking fwd to listening! went crate digging through Fractal Meat Cuts yesterday, was really liking Monochrome and White Donkey
RE: @trashpandaqc@mastodon.online
apologies to the VRC crowd today - I fractured a bone in my dominant hand earlier this week and won't be able to play. am on track for a good recovery, but this week's set (which involved a lot of new material) just isn't ready to play.
there's still a massive lineup yet to come, tune in below!

SOUND EXCURSION #2 – Toshimaru Nakamura
Replying to
@hellocatfood ah, I just meant the sound in general was nice, reminded me of that genre. mastodon was trying to load the quality in super high quality or something, so I couldn’t actually play it continuously or hear the clicks, but I liked the bits and pieces I heard.

@GubbiAnn@mastodon.art I see, no worries. my guess is maybe the feedback is introducing some other factor like an offset or a lot of bass building up. if you can insert like a 5 or 10 hz hi pass into the feedback, thru an aux or something, that might be good to test it. but you could be right about the impedance too, or some power issue, it’s hard to guess from a distance!

@GubbiAnn@mastodon.art ah, I see, I’m not sure then, but it sounds like you’re right, something in the amplification stage. those small mixers probably aren’t meant to drive a full PA.
Replying to
@hellocatfood @emenel yeah, about how annoying it can be + open source alternatives 😅 I mentioned cables and coollab but figured your list would have something unfamiliar.

@wonderofscience@mastodon.social I’ve seen this in pod racing, they gotta open the side vents and pump the ignition a couple more times

@t36s youtube recommended this to me too and I couldn’t figure out why, at first I thought it was from an anonymous musician’s channel someone posted here
