The real tension emerges deeper, in a space that doesn't open itself at once. Find me in the shadows.

I disappeared from Mastodon for a little while. I ended up in hospital because of a chronic subdural hematoma. It all started with a sudden loss of strength on the left side of my body. I couldn't even get dressed on my own. Thankfully, the surgery went well, I'm back home now, and I'm doing well. I chose this photograph for my return because it captures, better than words, what was happening inside my mind at the time. It's good to be back.

July 18, Łódź. Marilyn Manson performing “mOBSCENE” in full.
This was a really special night for me because it was my first concert since the surgery. Only a month had passed, and I was already back in front of the stage, feeling the energy and enjoying something that means so much to me. Everything’s okay 😃
And of course, Elisa was there with me. This time, it’s not just a short clip, but the whole song.

It reminded me of an old Italian novel about a man who wakes up and realizes he’s completely alone in a town. That idea has always fascinated me. Not the catastrophe itself, but the emptiness left behind by people. The silence that remains after our everyday existence disappears. And that’s exactly the silence I feel here the most. The frame feels raw, but at the same time strangely melancholic and deeply human. A very powerful photograph.

@andre@mastoart.social I understand your frustration when Russian representatives return to international sport and cultural events as if nothing has happened. Sport and culture should bring people together, but they should never become a way to ignore responsibility. My thoughts are with you, my friend, and with everyone in Ukraine.

@creating.maria Thank you! That mix of fascination and unease is exactly what I was trying to capture. As for the print—I agree, in a large format, all those details and textures would probably be even more impactful.

@andre@mastoart.social A very intriguing take on the subject. This technique, with such strong contrast and an almost graphic structure, perfectly emphasizes the rawness of street spam. It looks a bit like old photocopies or screen printing, which gives these ordinary advertisements a second, more artistic life.

@ambivalena Incredible shot! That cloud really looks like a figure racing through the sky. Interestingly, here in Poland, especially in the Kashubian region, we have very similar legends about gatherings on Rowokół Mountain. It seems that witches know no borders and they all have a busy weekend ahead!

@ambivalena Incredible work. There's something of the Pictorialist spirit in this shot... the focus on mood being more important than documentary sharpness. The heavy grain makes the space around you feel almost tactile, thick with the thoughts you mention in the title. It looks like a scene straight out of the past, as if time has stood still here. Your figure in that wicker chair, surrounded by raw wood, creates a composition that is hard to look away from.

@clintruin@mastodon.social You hit the nail on the head with this track; it perfectly complements that sense of unease. When I developed this photo, I kept thinking of "The Exorcist" — a figure walking away into the dark after the rite, in a world that has suddenly felt "shifted" and alien. The umbrella, the silhouette resembling a cassock... I'm glad you felt that same weight and atmosphere. Thanks for sharing this link!

@ambivalena Thank you. Her eyes hold my entire world, and the camera is just a tool to try and put it into words 😍

@ambivalena I love the effect of the "slipping" figure. It looks like a visual record of inner chaos or a moment when we lose our footing. The black outfit against the light background intensifies this feeling of loneliness in motion.

@ambivalena It's fascinating what you wrote about the Pentax. It's clear that you know your gear inside out and can squeeze the soul out of it, not just the technical specs. That combination of high ISO, the IR filter, and that cool white balance created an incredible, almost dreamlike effect. I'm glad I could spend more time with this photo because it truly deserves it.
