Here is a picture of Christina Koch on the ISS using hardware I designed running firmware I wrote, along with a few other relics from my time in the space industry
Man, we really need a new mobile OS ecosystem
Man, rsync dude turning out to be just, like, a workaholic retiree engineer who's trying to have his cake and eat it too is such a bummer.
And not because it's a particularly egregious sin! It's a bummer because it's such a human flaw!
Like, my flaws are probably as great in magnitude.
If you've ever worked in tech or existed anywhere in these open source circles, you've met dudes like this.
You are computerized control system designed for metering air into a precision furnace that generates between 4 and 80 megawatts.
**Always**:
- Avoid explosive atmospheres outside the furnace
**Never**:
- Exceed the melting point of the furnace
- Explode
Make no mistakes.
Reminder to self: humans are persistence predators and everything you've pursued with dedication you've gotten really good at
(Next problem: developing more strategies for motivating dedicated pursuit)
Kinda unbelievable color right out of the scanner on this one?

There's a lot of really cool silicon fab research going on right now and I look forward to finding out what cool stuff we can do with it when this fucking AI bubble bursts.
Nervous and excited to start new job next week!
Unfortunately, the new place is not nearly as hard-line about AI as I would preferred, but at least my coworkers seem to (mostly) be among the more hesitant quartile and I think I mostly trust that I won't see anything that hasn't received good human review.
Some folks hold on to their beliefs and practice them with a sort of... Conspiratorial charlatanism? Idk how else to describe it, but the vibe is really distinct.
At the hackerspace, the folks who were the worst about it were the free energy bros. And the crypto bros. I can imagine the NFT Bros were like that, too. But it's exactly the same vibe all the extreme AI boosters have.
replaced a hard drive that died in a zfs mirror and nothing went more wrong during the replacement 🥳
Every time I take a red-eye I lose or break something expensive so I think I'm going to just not do that anymore.
