Finished off my current Quar project tonight, a Toulmore infantry squad. I already have a standard bearer and a musician built and primed. These things are addictive. I'm going to be sorely tempted to paint the musician Kermit green with his little banjo.
But... I also love the idea of limited palettes so I picked up a few bottles from the LGS, built something weird looking, and we'll see what #fedipaint can turn it all into.

If I were to do something similar again I'd really like to try to set it up for one big, uninterrupted block of time. As much as I found mixing initial colors very zen, trying to match them when I came back after a few days was really rough. For the blue leather I just went over it all completely at one point because I couldn't match what I had done before for touch-ups.

I also couldn't get the colors to behave like a wash when I tried. That turned out to be helpful though because it meant I did more highlighting and drybrushing instead, and I really pushed some of the smaller drybrushes I don't usually use.
I really thought I did better with the moldlines, but cripes they stood out on this bastard.

@contrarian@dice.camp for some reason I remember thinking the 'eye height' thing was due to minis starting with historicals and their tendency to have tall hats. Eyes would make an easier measuring point than a hidden top of the head.
I'm glad to see that the true story makes more sense while still not being totally planned and logical

@androidarts@mastodon.gamedev.place I think if it's that sampler feel you want, gw would point you towards the intro box instead. Last edition one was five marines and ten termegants and some basic rules I think. Launch box seems targeted to the already invested.

@jgilbert@mastodon.social it looks like it's specifically the team behind Arena, the modern* Magic pc and mobile client for playing online. It doesn't look like it's the whole of WotC or even the whole of the Magic team.
Still great, every bit helps, and hopefully they are successful and spread the gains.
