mastodon 4.7.3An aging open source geonerd who still thinks he is 25, addicted to life, smallholding, learning new things, and of course the QGIS project and community!
Great news for #NixOS and nix users wanting to run bleeding edge, unreleased versions of #QGIS As of today you can now simply run this command to run the latest version of #QGIS in git:
nix run github:qgis/QGIS#qgis
Note: When you run this command, it will take a while and your CPU will work hard since it builds everything from source.
Thanks so much to @imincik@bird.makeup for this amazing and far reaching contribution to #QGIS !
Hello from #kartoza and #QGIS from the GeoSpatial track at #fossdem ! I’ll be hanging out in the geospatial room. All day if anyone want to say hi! And I will be cheering on Dimas who will be presenting our work on BIMS https://kartoza.com/bims, an open source biodiversity information management system.
In the last weeks / months I have been building tooling to help keep on top the absolutely mind breaking flood off communications that comes to me over the internet every day. That is in turn giving me (finally) some clear head room to start sharing some of the things I do again. Here is my sprint activity summary for the last two weeks. A gentle note that most of the QGIS commits are automations done in my name and don't neccessarily represent intense effort on my part.
📰 #QGIS News: All of the #QGIS web sites just got their menus overhauled!
💁🏽 We hope you find navigating the QGIS web site a little easier with this update. The changes seek to harmonise the menus by grouping things more logically and removing less relevant menu items.
🙏🏽Thanks to @xpirix@mastodon.social for implementing this, and @underdarkGIS@fosstodon.org and @mbernasocchi@fosstodon.org for helping to plan and review the overhaul.
Say hi to our latest branding overhaul updates at https://qgis.org #QGIS now sports beautiful, dedicated pages for our changelog, sustaining members and certification initiatives!

Thanks so much to @xpirix@mastodon.social Lova for all of this amazing work, and to those who have donated to and funded QGIS to support his employment.
This codebase was donated to #QGIS by #kartoza and the source code now has a new home at QGIS GitHub!
We are very pleased to be participating in the launch event of FBIS Africa. The project seeks to provide open access to freshwater biodiversity data in Africa and support the visualisation, exploration and long term sustainable management of this data. This four year project is in its inception stage, but you can already visit the website here: https://fbisafrica.org/
Please contact our wonderful colleagues at https://www.frcsa.org.za/ if you want to know more!
