I am an indigenous PwD originally from Canada, interested in food, cooking, and universal design and accessibility, zero waste, and how to bring all those things together. Refuse, reduce, re-use, recycle. #nobot Sign up for epicure.social here: https://epicure.social/invite/xEzP3D8S

One other note until April 2023 my posts will likely be mostly about COVID/disinformation. Mute me until then if the plague isn't as present of a threat for you, as it still is for me and mine. Thanks.

@palafo@mstdn.social @wijsgerig@mas.to @tuckerteague@mastodon.social At one point when my account was being deliberately hidden by the algorithm (and this happened to others whose replies were being hidden from me), "liking" a post before you replied was the only way to ensure the person you were replying to would see it. Otherwise (especially if it was a fact-check or science-based or a reality-based question to a science comms account), I would be buried under "Show more replies" or "Show more replies that may be offensive." The algorithm was gross.

@hildabast@mastodon.online @ttpphd@mastodon.social Screenshots also had to be used, as receipts proving what the bad actors were doing (particularly the foreign-language #COVID #disinformation) because as soon as any given thread fell off the doomscroll, the bad actors would then delete the evidence of what they had said. So much missing content is definitely going to skew your results. Also: "The primary vectors of incivility and abuse on Twitter appear to be replies and hashtags, and it comes from a small minority of users." This is provably untrue; the second ivermectin disinformation campaign hit six tweets per second, on September 11, 2021 (yes - the 20th anniversary of 9/11): https://nitter.unixfox.eu/TheSpoonless/status/1436749753627381760#m As for quote boosts here, I'm happy to have it be opt-in only, and I hope it will be implemented across the fediverse that accounts can opt out of being quoted. My last word on the subject comes from QTs' inventor: "“Quote retweet allows for the dunk. It’s the dunk mechanism." https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/alexkantrowitz/how-the-retweet-ruined-the-internet

@nafnlaus@fosstodon.org @stanstallman@sfba.social @mergerson@mastodon.social Sigh. The foreign state bad actors have found their way in. This is exactly how they shut down accounts on the other site, when you tried to fight their disinformation; constant false reports, that were often never reset until you made repeated appeals (or got trapped in endless re-verify-at-login-loops), or, in the case of my last suspension, from 28 January 2022 through to 14 November 2022, I was suspended "automatically" as "spam" for quote tweeting, with screenshots, proof that COVID19 disinformation replies to the National Institute of Ageing and RyersonU's tweet about their COVID-19 Risk Assessment Tool, were monetized (paid-for) advertisements. Receipts: https://www.reddit.com/r/Qult_Headquarters/comments/yf9ofm/comment/iu3qnza/ Mass-false-reporting fact-checking and/or debunking accounts is how the foreign state bad actors have always operated, to censor those who fight them. Don't let them get away with it here #Mastodon admins. Please.

@itisiboller@infosec.exchange ...unless you are a domestic violence survivor. Then, depending on circumstances, and further escalations that may be involved in trying to escape - especially if the family of the perpetrator has power, reach, and influence, and tries to maintain legal, psychological, financial, and physical control over their family member's victim(s) over decades - then...yes, yes, we do have everything to hide, and everything to fear. And we are criminalized, suspected, and discriminated against, for acting like we do. It shouldn't be like that.....

I would just like to point out we have been living off the largesse of @simonjwoolf@epicure.social for many years now; as he has said, it is €250-€300 annually and an hour of his time per month, to maintain the server that connects the 120 of us with the wider Mastodon community around the world.

For the price of €2.50 per annum each, every user on this server can keep it going. I ask you to think of what the last thing you bought for €2.50 was.

@hildabast@mastodon.online @ttpphd@mastodon.social It's good they managed to track some of the disinfo traffic. The more evidence, the better, especially if the EU is finally going to crack down. The bot behaviour was absolutely given free reign, and part of the disinfo campaigns in 2021, that Twitter platformed, and prevented genuine users (including me) from reporting...because the "automated processes" that "automatically" suspended users after we were mass-reported (falsely, in the case of those of us attempting to fight the disinfo), were prevented from reporting disinfo content and bad actors AT ALL. https://www.reddit.com/r/Qult_Headquarters/comments/yl4nwe/comment/iuwnm83/ So, the bad actors were allowed, with the UNSAFE Twitter "Safety"'s blessings, to game the "automated" processes to have those of us fighting disinfo suspended repeatedly...but we were not allowed access to those same "automated" processes to fight back, and do exactly the same thing to the foreign state bad actors that caused tens of millions of COVID deaths in 2021 (and more in 2022).
