I dunno. I'm trying to find nuance. It's not like my career to date has been filled with emotionally intelligent men with great communication skills. I've had to compensate for other's egos a lot
But it definitely feels worse now - trying to communicate with people who'd rather give their coding assistant directions than actually collaborate with another human being

My partner has never travelled anywhere that would induce jetlag. And I've been the sage seasoned traveller that reminds her that jetlag is bad actually
I forgot that she used to be a sound engineer and could flip her sleep schedule at will. She's gonna be fine and I'm so jealous

This is all so true and leaves me wondering how I exist in all of this

I have, after two years, allowed myself to talk about my experiences with AI madness again, this time with the benefit of speaking to people all around the world, including Fortune 500 executives. This one is on my regular blog for casual readers, and cross-posted to the company blog if you need to share this with someone and have it look official.

I officially have enough knitting paraphenalia that I need a better storage solution than "that drawer with all of my knitting shit in it"
I think it's been About three years since @lookitmychicken@blorbo.social taught me to knit so when I hyperfocus I really hyperfocus
Now to find a storage solution that doesn't annoy me

A cool fun thing about needing to sell my labour under capitalism is that the stress and alienation gave me an autoimmune disease that makes me worse at the labour I sell which in turn causes stress about food and shelter which makes the autoimmune disease worse

@pat@hachyderm.io I just wish I there was an avenue for me to do something that felt vaguely useful for the next few years and using AI feels like soul rot which is as far from useful as it gets

Jesse: What are you listening to?
Me: I'm trying to make a playlist of crisp and melancholy songs for a playlist - but I think this song is too distorted
Jesse: For what?
Me: For me?
Jesse: But for like an event?
Me: No - for me. Because I specifically want a playlist of crisp but melancholy songs
Sometimes our brains work in very different ways

I try not to be a grumpy old fart but improvements in lighting technology over my lifetime mean that nearly every live music show has a high chance of having migraine triggering lighting

I wanna have another go at learning mandarin
One thing I really struggled with was saying tones. My flat affect is so much more pronounced than I think it is - when I record myself and listen back I'm not making the sounds I think I am

The urge is to bring like... 6 projects because what if I run out when in reality I probably only need one because I'm not that fast
I have yarn for a shawl that I want to make for my partner - I'll definitely bring that
I have some 4ply rimu possum/merino that I didn't like for the project I had in mind for it but I haven't decided what I'd do instead
I have some 4ply polwarth silk where I hated what I was making and I frogged it - I also don't have a plan for that

My mental health is doing great - why do you ask?

Jesse: what are you listening to?
Me: a newer translation of The Iliad?
Jesse: is it good?
Me: The intro and translator notes are like three hours long and I'm only halfway through that so..... I don't know
