I should probably get a gaming PC prebuilt so I can just play some basic games and have some modicum of social interaction. The parts I already have can be used to upgrade it, or something, or I could go to a parts shop or something and see what they have? Will have to finish building my dream pc optimized for MMOFPS games later. I just can't find parts online right now and got scammed 2x where parts never showed up... So I will have to go to parts stores and browse off of a list and hope for the best. My old backpack broke, so I need a new one.
I think I'll go to the sporting goods store down the street and get a vintage backpack (half the stuff in stock has been there since the 80s)

re: islam and my thoughts about my old friends
It is worthy of note that I'm significantly happier without that religion.
This excerpt is a good example of how restrictive the religion is. In context (which is omitted in the excerpt) it's about not making booze. But the abundance of caution combined with general lack of general education among the ulema results in explanations of "this is vaguely bad for you" but the reason it's forbidden is actually because grapes have yeast on them and mixing these two makes khamr instead of nabidh. Anyways, there are thousands of nonsensical "because someone with a funny hat said so" fiqh like this. Rules about how to keep the jinns from falling in love with you while you bathe, or how to avoid angering them, or other absolute bullshit about the extreme danger of letting your pants cover your ankles because of it being a symbol of extreme arrogance and hypocrisy.

Similarities between the Norse God Odin and the Shinto Kamisama Izanagi no Mikoto, listed clearly:
Both played a role in Creation
Both carry a divine spear
Both are Father figures who created/ birthed humans.
Both are married to the main Mother figure of their mythologies.
Both have a Sun Goddess, Moon God, and Storm God among their children.
Both are at odds with Fire Gods.
*Ahem* ancientnortheurasians *cough cough*

A sketchup model of a single-floor merchant's house, where the shopfront has been enclosed to form a large Shoin (bay window with a desk). Note, the earthen floor portion is the home's entry and kitchen. The module at the back is an added-on private bath and toilet. This house is from a floorplan in The Measure and Construction of the Japanese House, by German Architect Heino Engel (my favorite architect).

Right, so the architecture of the Yayoi culture in Japan has a few key elements that need to be pointed out. This is a storage building at Ise Jingu. Obviously, this is a very refined building at a sacred site, not a random farmhouse. BUT, there are some interesting commonalities between the Yayoi Architecture and the Nordic Stone Age architecture from Northern Europe, that were not part of the architectures of intervening peoples.
The Eve Prop. That vertical post under the eves to support the ends of the ridge beam.
And the Ridge weight made of crossed bars which weigh down the thatch at the top to prevent it blowing away. It is often considered decorative these days, but was originally purely functional.
It is worthy of note, that the Yayoi lived in thatched pit-houses prior to raising their buildings off the ground. That the first raised structures besides watch towers were grain storage buildings and then these developed into shrines.

Comments on a 1930s Manga that they made an anime opening sequence for in 2000:
Where's the rest of it????
Pity they never made this irl.
This could be a good story.
They're copying off of DC/Marvel.

So I have a unique language study method, where I type conversation I pulled out of my head into a translation app, and check my assumptions of the meaning. It's like having a custom workbook for language practice. And you can see in real time if you forgot part of the sentence and if you put the words in the correct order. Do not use google kun for this, deepL works much better because the data it was trained on prioritizes books and newspapers instead of entries like google does. But it can also handle niche slang on a second priority level.
Example sentences that I typed to check my work:
音楽が聞くしています。
君の声が煩い。
話しないませんか?
本当か?
この音楽が素晴らしい。でも君の言葉がちょっとうるさんぞ。
Also, you may notice that in this writing sample, it starts out polite and as the speaker gets progressively more miffed, they start dropping the pretense and becoming verbally upset. This was intentional. They did however, keep referring to their friend by 君。So they don't hate the person, they are just very annoyed.

I got emotional seeing a really beautiful sword. Chat, am I cooked?
To be fair, it's an 800 years old Kanehira Odachi valued at 1.5 Million USD being shown off by the current Masamune, and that's hella epic.... like..... oh. It's 100% tamahagane and done entirely by hand. So, that perfect curvature and detailed workmanship in something that old is just incredible. The hamon has little swirls in it. So, it's the actual wave pattern, not the fake one. So what I mean, is it's the breaking waves, and not simply a wobble. Also, the edge can mark glass. So.... Probably 63-68 Rockwell. Which is the equivalent of modern High-end edge hardness.

the Smoking Gun. East Asia Haplogroup Population Genetics Study, showing the Urheimat of Finno-Ugric and Samoyedic groups (both grouped as Uralic now) in the area where people nowadays speak mandarin with that nasal rhotic twang.
So, in simple terms, the Uralicized European religion followed by the Ancient Norse is so much like Shinto and Sindo and Shendao... Because they are the same basically.

well, the really weird thing is that if you look on wikipedia, it's like, "Odin is a war god", but that's based on a whole lotta nothing. 19th century occultists just randomly decided he was a war god. But that's actually Freyr/ Ingr. Odin is the Father/ King/ Shaman archetype in the Eddas and Sagas. So just because he goes to war, doesn't mean that is his whole raison d' etre. He's a God of creation, the sky, and wise leadership.
Vili and Ve are the other creator Gods in Norse Mythology, and they use the body of Ymir to make the heavens and Earth according to the Poetic Edda.
In the Kojiki there are 3 creator Gods before Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto are born. A primal being who is never mentioned again, and 2 other gods who create up until there is a water-covered earth. And Izanagi no Mikoto dips his spear into the sea, and the foam which falls from the tip becomes land.
The Kojiki also mentions a sea monster called Yamata no Orochi which the storm God Susano'o no Mikoto fights. Like how Thor fights with Jormungandr.
The extreme degree of similarity between Norse and Japanese mythology has actually baffled comparative religion researchers for decades. Nobody really knows why they are this similar.

Following the general naming convention of still-practiced forms of polytheism and animism, the Norse religion would probably be called "ásvegr". Just following the norms of polytheistic and animistic religions in naming themselves. They almost always call themselves the "way of the Gods" or "the way of the spirits". That's what ásvegr means. This word is actually used in Skaldic poetry and the sagas to refer to Norse Polytheism. So it is almost certainly the correct name for those beliefs.
The modern term ásatru was created from Old Norse roots, but was not likely used at that time. And the modern Asatru belief system is a neopagan movement religion, which doesn't take into account the influence of Siberian and Uralic religions on the Norse beliefs.
If one did take North Eurasian influences into account, the faith would look drastically different. Especially since the Mesolithic Urheimat of the Uralic peoples puts them into direct contact with peoples like the Ynesians, Chukchi, and Kamchatkan groups, and this shows up in the Eddaic literature from Iceland and the Circumpolar Bear Cult practices such as the Feast of Otso described in the Kalevala and the Iyomante ceremony from Sakhalin and Hokkaido, as well as the Na-Dene version of the Spirit-Bear mythology...
Uralic, Turkic, Mongolic, Japonic, Dene-Ynesian, and East Siberian forms of Shamanism are all very clearly similar, and their Urheimati are all within an easy distance of one-another. So while the Ancient and Classical Norse people and their culture is broadly Indo-European, their religion has a very strong indication of Siberian influence, and this is not only by comparative study of their mythology, but also evidenced in their language, their concept of destiny, their systematic code of honor, and many symbolic motifs.
