SWIB

The programme for #SWIB25, happening 17-19 November, is published and you can now register for the conference. We are very happy for having @brewsterkahle@mastodon.archive.org as keynote speaker on “Library Resilience Exercises by the Internet Archive”. In addition to 16 presentations, we will have eight hands-on workshops/tutorials spread over three time slots.

RE: @acka47@openbiblio.social

Look at that, it is a #swib26 sticker designed by @hochstenbach@openbiblio.social (thank you, Patrick).

BTW, the call for proposals is still running: https://forum.swib.org/t/swib26-call-for-proposals/1675 #bibliocon26

We have extended the submission deadline for #swib26 to June 1st.

The programme committee is looking forward to your submissions!

Save the date: The 18th SWIB rendition will take place online 16 – 18 November 2026.

We have already updated the fedi profile picture and prepared the online forum a bit. Expect more to come. https://swib.org

#SWIB25 is right around the corner! You can see the programme at https://forum.swib.org/t/swib25-programme/934

We will start the main conference on Monday, Nov 17, at 2pm UTC with @brewsterkahle@mastodon.archive.org's keynote on "Library Resilience Exercises by the Internet Archive".

Having registered in the SWIB forum, you can still sign up for a workshop at https://forum.swib.org/t/workshops-swib25/1420 or announce a lightning talk at https://forum.swib.org/t/swib25-lightning-talks/937.

In his #swib25 keynote, @brewsterkahle@mastodon.archive.org went through the four rights of memory institutions according to the Statement on Digital Rights for Protecting Memory Institutions Online: https://ourfuturememory.org/#rights

There is still a lot of room for more #libraries, #archives and #museums to sign the statement. ;-)

Things are getting real. The first day of #SWIB25 has started, workshops are already running and we are getting very excited.

The main conference and live stream will start at 14:00 UTC with a short opening address followed by @brewsterkahle@mastodon.archive.org's keynote.

Thanks a lot to @j4lib@openbiblio.social for setting up the #swib25 Wikidata entry: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q136661252

Everybody, feel invited to contribute (to Wikidata as well as to the conference)!

The #swib25 recordings can now also be watched on the @TIB_AVPortal@openbiblio.social: https://av.tib.eu/series/2010

We have also added the links to the descriptions of the talks: https://forum.swib.org/t/swib25-programme/934

Amongst other things, the post outlines which #Discourse plugins we have used for the online conference and how much it was used by participants.

Fortunately, our forum is not dependent on Cloudflare as we self-host it on hbz-servers without a CDN. For the live stream, this year Vimeo is used and it also does not seem to suffer under the Cloudflare problems.

This means the second day of #swib25 should be able to start in half an hour without problems.

We are pleased to announce that we have published the #swib25 Call for Proposals: https://forum.swib.org/t/swib25-call-for-proposals/922

We are looking forward to your submissions!

Does SWIB need an AI policy? What should such a policy cover and how? @SemAntiKast@openbiblio.social has opened a discussion topic in the forum: https://forum.swib.org/t/working-towards-an-ai-policy-for-swib-an-appeal-to-the-swib-community/1008

What is your opinion? We invite you to join the discussion in the forum.
