Back in May we visited WWT Welney. Out the front of the visitor centre a Moorhen was parenting chicks in the pond. While at the Island Mere hide a Reed Warbler was hunting for Damselfly’s and taking them back into the same spot in the reeds. We assume it’s for a nest, it was amazing to watch and was totally unbothered by us. We have a pair of Robins nesting in the garden. They’ve both been working hard flying all around the garden catching all manner of food for their little ones.

This afternoon I got some pictures of them in various spots on their way home.

Today we saw a lifer! My phone alerted me to some new arrivals so we headed up to a farmers field near Lessingham, north Norfolk. Perched on the power cables were 13 European Bee-Eaters! @scozmos@mastodon.scot thanks, it was an odd encounter. We went from not seeing one white Pheasant before to seeing two, male and female. We were watching the male, another birder was passing and asks what we saw. I pointed out the male and he told us a female was about 10m down the path tucked up in a bramble.

@kolombiken@front-end.social yeah I’m lucky to live about 20 minutes from a lot of wetland fens/marshes. The RSPB folks that look after it think there may be 5-6 there. I’ve seen two together during the summer.
