It's great that I can request books to be brought to my local library, wherever they are in the county.
When I rule the world, this will be expanded so that all public libraries are linked natively insofar as requesting books, at least.
I wonder if some of our ancestors' friends didn't have that one-second warning that a sneeze was coming, and so they died out.
Am I the only one fed up of constant tips and hacks? Craving deeper things?
I think this is part of why I'm currently reading more books.
Pleased to have gotten my latest Covid vaccine yesterday. Will be even happier when my arm stops hurting (but this will pass quickly, it's fine).
You know how you can highlight one or more cells in Excel and click and drag those contents to some other cell(s)?
Have you EVER had an occasion where you actually wanted to do that on purpose?
I've only ever done it on accident, quickly followed by undo, usually when trying to flash fill.
My hobby: Guessing which software produced the invoice I'm looking at.
Do I know anyone who is a Deluge scripting expert? (The language that Zoho uses)
One of my contacts is looking for one.

Today's pet peeve: That QuickBooks reports default to just having an "Amount" column instead of "Debit" and "Credit" columns, even when I'm logged in as an accountant.
That feeling when you're waiting on two very specific emails, so jumping at every new email. 😝 I want to put a notice out to everyone that says, "DON'T EMAIL ME TODAY UNLESS YOU ARE THIS PERSON. THANKS."
Things that confuse me, number 3575189:
Why the CoOp bank (in the UK) requires signatures from users who are departing an organisation to remove them from the business bank account.
What if they died? Or left on bad terms and are no longer reading any emails or letters from that organisation? Or no one cleaned up the signatory list for several years, and that person can't be found now?
Not hypothetical, either; I have clients who experienced two of those.
This is an interesting and well-thought-out paper:
"Every figure HMRC produces, the tax it collects, the risks it targets, the gap it publishes, is metabolised from the financial data it ingests, and that data originates as a categorisation decision made when a transaction is recorded.
"For millions of UK businesses, that decision is now made by probabilistic software.
"This paper asks a single question: will the adoption of probabilistic artificial intelligence in small-business bookkeeping widen the tax gap, and is it doing so already?"

Argh, what was that show? Last night I half-remembered a show or movie (show, I think) -- action, sci fi, had AI characters as fully fleshed characters. The main character was a human, who found this deserted hotel in the middle of a city, deserted because the AI running it was said to have gone nuts, I think. But the two of them got on well, and the AI (a middle aged white guy, maybe with a moustache) assisted the main character in his quest. I can't remember the quest, but he was looking for ... people? things ... and evading people, too. It was kind of dystopian.
Today's mood.
