Well actually, you're not supposed to want to search for old posts. That's just the corporate industrial mindset that's lulled you into being obsessed with engagement of old posts instead of fresh posts. Not using animal products... I mean, not being able to search is actually more enjoyable once you try it!

@hankgreen I think it's a matter of pace. Even though technology (fusion, AI, etc.) is developing rapidly, we're screwing up the climate even faster.

I'm not sure if what you're describing is an unhealthy or unnatural response. I have the same issue. What the heck are you supposed to do while the computer just freezes for an unknown length of time?
In R, I use the beepr package a lot to alert me when a long (1+ minutes) analysis ends. I need the same thing for opening bloated software.
You were here before the twitter exodus, right? Was that an issue beforehand?
I had an old account but never used it until late 2022. One reason I switched to primarily using BlueSky was those kinds of replies. BlueSky certainly has them, but they're WAY less common and tend be gentler ("It'd be helpful to..." rather than "You're an idiot for not...")
