"Ocean Voices II” is an epic wood sculpture. Ursula von Rydingsvard has created sculptures out of cedar wood for the past 35 years. Her longstanding use of wood is linked to memories of the makeshift structures that her Ukrainian-Polish family inhabited while moving from one displaced-persons camp to the next across postwar Germany.
Well known for dressing Marilyn Monroe, Hollywood costume designer and Academy Award winner, William Travilla (1920–1990) created this synthetic blend, summer seasonal ensemble for United in a new color named Blue Frost. In 1998, Janet established The Alvarado Project to ensure the preservation of her father’s unique cultural record of Filipino American life in CA.
Harvey Milk recruited political activist Anne Kronenberg (b. 1954) to run his campaign for supervisor in 1977. Continuing with a lifelong career in public service, in December 2010, Kronenberg became Executive Director of the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management.
Under senior designer Eva Rosencrans (1901–1994), the internationally known New York-based label founded in 1929 by Ben Reig took United’s uniform in a new direction as the jet age progressed. Distinctly more feminine than previous fitted-suit uniforms, the modified box-shape jacket with a bracelet length sleeve and a soft rolled collar is matched with an A-line skirt.

Nance O’Banion was trained as a weaver, but began working with handmade paper as a sculptural medium in 1970. Since then she has become one of the best-known artists working in that medium. Change and transformation are important themes for O’Banion, and "Billboard Series" seems to respond to the transitory nature of the Airport itself as the piece appears to change as the viewer moves around it.
