A year ago, The Newsground was an idea. I kept thinking about how my dad used to read the news every morning with a cup of coffee. It felt like the opposite of the way we consume news now: doomscrolling, distrust and an endless feed. I wanted to build something that brought a little of that feeling back, while doing serious investigative journalism and keeping the reporting free to read. I'm so disturbed by the Swalwell stories, especially as someone who looked up to the kind of oversight he brought to Congress. He endorsed my book. But right is right and wrong is wrong. This is a guy who should never hold power again, and I hope law enforcement seriously looks into the allegations.
