In the space of three days I have gone from thinking about watching Ted Lasso to owning the first three seasons on DVD and I'm probably going to finish season 3 today.

It is brilliant.

And I don't like football.

So I got laid off again and I am back staring at the pit of despair and wondering what the point of my existence is.

Once again I have to use my terrible salesman skills to sell the product I have no belief in.

Grand.

So today I did a thing. I took a map I made a few years ago for a GURPS Dungeon Fantasy game I ran and used it to make a one page dungeon. This was mostly an experiment in learning to use Scribus to make PDF's but I figured I would also use it an an experiment in making it available on Itch. It may also end up going up on DriveThru RPG.

Lots to learn but I'm happy with there first steps.

139 words today not a lot but I did some work on a couple personal projects including play testing the rules for a solo journalling game I started a couple of years. The rules worked ok, I need to remember my plans for it. Still some progress made.

@mina@berlin.social Isn't it pretty?

I'm sharing this again because I still feel it's one of the best things I've ever written.

For various reasons I really don't want to maintain my personal website. It's too mentally draining at the moment. I was thinking of using Substack to write some of the articles I'm cogitating on but does anyone have any thoughts for other options for long form writing platforms?

So yeah 460 words written today for a project and then I played a bit of Fallout New Vegas.

Which was fun. As I'm not properly ramping up until April I'm cool with this. Got some plans for tomorrow.

This is part of my ongoing post redundancy plans to refocus on writing and game design. Possibly still going to do some software development but I'm pretty burnt out on the whole thing really.

So yeah I realise I've not posted here in a while. I really should.

And I should mention that I'm getting made redundant, which is one of those things I guess.

Hopefully I'll have some time to come up with some plans to be able to pay the mortgage and eat.

Luckily I live in Scotland so my house was significantly cheaper than it would have been down South.

There's a lot of attempts at positivity going on in my brain.

I wrote a very short mood piece story yesterday. Something that's been stuck in my brain for years. Enjoy.

I have a thought for neutering the gammons a bit. From now on we should refer to the European Human Rights Act as Churchills Human Rights Act.

And now they are having to argue against Churchill and the rules he managed to convince the Europeans to accept.

Wow. This is one of those "It's great after season 3, but you have to watch the first two seasons to understand why" things.

Still it could be fun, I've not Gran Turismo'd for a while.

It's Friday so it must be time for my to blog about the weekly challenge and how I solved it in Raku.

Here's my ongoing blogs about the weekly Perl coding challenge and how I solve them in Raku. I hope you enjoy.

Weekly Challenge blog 330 it's a pretty simple on this week but there's some thoughts about typing and multi dispatch.

I am reposting this again.

It is a story a wrote a little while ago and it's probably the best thing I've ever written.

I would love to get it published one day but I have no clue how to start.

It makes me cry every time I read it. I hope you enjoy it.

So yesterday I uninstalled Facebook, Threads, Instagram and Bluesky (which I hardly used) from my phone.

Mastodon is getting a pass for a bit.

I was just getting really stressed out over threads.

In other news I was looking through Raku land and found this library I wrote and have very little memory off. But it's cool.

Be well all.

I wrote this a month or so ago. I was thinking about trying to apply some design to it before remembering I have the graphical design skills of a stunned haddock. One of the problems with Aphantasia.

So I present 100 Village Quirks. 100 ideas to make a village you encounter in a role-playing game that little bit more interesting. It's suitable for most genres where there's a small isolated settlements, not just fantasy.
