@yojimbo@masto.hackers.town @chadmccullough@mastodon.bsd.cafe @elementary@mastodon.social Neither OpenBSD and NetBSD allow LLM code, because they consider it to be (copyright) tainted OpenBSD's policies¹ don't specifically name LLMs but they have said elsewhere that LLM code doesn't have an author who could grant OpenBSD licence to use it² NetBSD specifically mentions LLM extrusion³ but says it ⋆could⋆ be merged with permission from the core team [1]: https://www.openbsd.org/policy.html [2]: https://marc.info/?l=openbsd-tech&m=177411923203008 [3]: https://www.netbsd.org/developers/commit-guidelines.html#tainted

This isn't making fun at all I just wanted to document the usage Specifically they said they were getting into physical media and bought some mp3s off band camp

@grvsmth@lingo.lol Oh you're right! I have heard (and used) that before In a similar vein I emailed Thonk recently and their auto-reply starts "We reply to every email in person, but while you wait for a human to reply [..]".

@na_sy_tr@lingo.lol I'd be interested in a copy

@na_sy_tr@lingo.lol Thanks! Just emailed

@grvsmth@lingo.lol I wonder if it might also be related to the fact that an ipod is dedicated to music. Perhaps if they'd bought the mp3s to play on a smartphone they wouldn't have called it physical media
