mastodon 4.7.3Software engineer by day, KDE hacker at night.
Toots may contain art, games, and more.
Starting a new thread detailing 🧵 changes I recently made in KDE's NeoChat, which may inspire other #Matrix users/clients/whatever... :BlobCat_Nerd:
For new features they will can appear in the next new major version (like 26.04), bugfixes are assumed to be backported as soon as possible with a few exceptions.
1/many to come
I saw the Canon L1 (the camcorder, I hate Canon naming) and thought it was a perfect fit 📸
(yes, it really does have two grips)
KDE neochat dev, maybe tokodon later
Someone asked how hard it would be for a #Mastodon client to implement a "Following" feed like on #Cohost. Not hard at all, here's a quick prototype I made in a few minutes in @tokodon@kde.social 🙂
If I were to turn it into a real feature, it need a better looking list, and filtering options of course...
i admit it, i don't know how to draw hats
Time for some reminiscing: It's been almost a full year since I started contributing to #KDE 's #Tokodon! (I made my first merge request on November 30th, 2022.)
I wanted a native (desktop) Mastodon client, and I helped shape it into something I enjoy everyday 🙂 I almost never use the Web interface (unless there's a feature we can't implement due to the lack of an API.)
Here's a side-by-side of what Tokodon (sort of) looked a year ago, and what we are releasing in February of next year.
@molentum@mastoart.social thanks! the texture is what i struggled with until the very end :BlobCat_Cozy:
Here’s a tool I’ve never heard of before: https://github.com/wjdp/htmltest
I now run it on my website to check for HTML issues, and it’s configurable (and even better, it’s configuration options are listed in the README!) A really useful function is it’s link checker, that not only tests internal links but external sites too. I’ve already fixed a bunch of broken links I didn’t even know I had.
Trying out a slightly improved post layout for #Tokodon! There's tweaks to the margins/padding as usual, but a few more things:
- I like the idea of standalone tags from Mastodon 🙂 I wanted to add them
- You can see the edit status of posts (although you can't view history yet) and the order of the top bar is re-arranged
- When posts are expanded, it won't duplicate information as much!
It'll take a bit more work to make this fit on mobile though, I need to make sure everything wraps...
