#Tourette since age 7, Dx 17.
Lifelong #ADHD but no Dx until mid-40s.
So thoroughly steeped in #depression and #anxiety that it's my normal and hard to ID as such.
Emotionally abused as a child, thus low self-esteem. Apparently this gave me #PTSD ( #CPTSD ?).

Happily married to #ActuallyAutistic he/him.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but it's perfectly fair and valid to find someone's tics annoying or irritating or grating. Especially vocal tics. Extra if you're also #NeuroDivergent and have sensory sensitivities. I can empathize, I promise! That in and of itself is not ableist.
The important thing is to remain polite about it. Our experiences might be different, but we don't want to be doing these tics either. A reasonable and level-headed conversation about accommodations is fine. Acting impatient toward us or telling us to stop it, that's where it gets rude and ableist.
I say this as the one who's performing the tics. I'm a 50-year-old woman who's had #TouretteSyndrome since age 7.
A new way of looking at autism that might or might not prove useful:
Hwaet? I'm posting from this account? After all this time?
Anyhow, I'm hoping for some insight here from my fellow Tourette people. Has anyone else ever had the tic urge come to them in dreams?
I have never* ticced or felt any tic urge in my dreams, but I'm wondering if that can explain the strange dream I had last night.
In my dream, I wasn't ticcing, but I was very angry. Everything, everyone, made me very angry. And my response was to have a very jerky, spastic physical tantrum. Not unlike my response to real-world anger when I was younger (up through at least my teenage years).
Usually when I have strong emotions in my dreams, they follow me however briefly into the waking world. But the anger was completely gone before I was fully awake. And I can't recall being angry in a dream before. Frustrated, certainly. Sad. Frightened. Helpless. But never angry.
I'm just trying to figure out where this unusual dream came from and whether my Tourette had anything to do with it.
*(This might have happened once or twice before in my life, but so rarely, so infrequently, that if it has ever happened, I can't remember when. I'm 51F.)
