This day in #WaitWaitDontTellMe history:

On the #WaitWait that aired 20 years ago today, panelist Paula Poundstone had answered zero questions correctly during the show's Lightning Fill-in-the-Blank round. It was the first occurrence since January 2000 (scoring data is not available for shows prior to January 2000).

Both Paula and Maeve Higgins would go on and have two shows each where they have answered zero Lightning round questions correct.

@rick@draco.deepskies.com @Anaxagoras@hachyderm.io @Alyzande@social.linux.pizza I don't recall that I had Pitfall in the stack of cartridges that I got, but I remember seeing the game at KB Toys or Toys R Us when the games were on the clearance pile. The only game that I got was Donkey Kong, because it was on sale and I didn't have any other console (I wouldn't get an NES until sometime between SMB2 and SMB3).

@alex@mstdn.ca To your question, 16 GB of RAM and 500 GB SSD should be more than enough. Even with an archive of a bunch of YouTube channels and a few DVD boxsets in my Plex library, I'm using about half of the 120 GB virtual disk that I've set that virtual machine with. For the Plex DVR, I think I have a 500 GB SSD for OS/Plex and a 2 TB 2.5" SSD (it was on sale, so it was a no-brainer for me) to store recorded shows from over-the-air.

@alex@mstdn.ca For instance, I have my Plex server running as a VM with 3 vCPUs and 4 GB of RAM on a Dell Precision 3430 small form factor desktop and an 8th gen Core i5. I do not pass through the iGPU or anything else and it can usually muster transcoding 1080p videos and some lower bitrate 2160p videos without struggling. The problem that I have is 2160p + burning subtitles makes it scream out in pain.

@Alyzande@social.linux.pizza I recently found the first two install floppies for OS/2 2.1 and the MS-DOS 5.x install disks for the Packard Bell Legend that I used to have in the 90s.

Other than the modem that came in that Packard Bell, my first modem was a Cardinal external modem; which, eventually got replaced by a Courier 56K modem.
