The Lotus Vault is a modern ebonite safety pen with a retractable steel nib and a piston converter, with vintage styling. It's made in India. It's about as big as a Pelikan M800, but lighter. To fill I remove the converter and fill it with a syringe because the section is a little wide in diameter for some ink bottles (eg. 30ml ones). This is a Western F nib, and ink flows well in it. Also, it was quite affordable (about USD120).
During the lull in the rain, my Rolling Stone BTS Comeback Issue with Suga cover arrived, double-wrapped in clingwrap. Here's a reel so you can see what's inside. It has the full cover story and all the individual member interviews. #BTS
These are Pens by Cal camo fountain pens made of PEEK and are cerakoted. I ordered the woodland camo one on the far left and was given a discount since I was the first to inquire. They were first sold at the Manila Pen Show, but since I was a volunteer at the event I didn't get to go around and see everything. Pens by Cal is a local maker. They will be at a mini pen show at the UP Bahay ng Alumni in UP Diliman, QC tomorrow, July 18, from 2-6pm.
Took a break from work and cleaned some fountain pens. Found some stiff piston converters, so I cleaned, dried and relubed them with silicone grease. Emptying a pen with shimmer ink at the moment. Waiting for the ink to run dry.

I am on a pen-buying moratorium until after the BTS concert next year. But today I saw the Lotus Vault in black ebonite, a modern safety pen that fills with a converter, but with vintage styling. It's Indian-made, and an excellent design. I want one, and it's affordable. Will save for it in the meantime.
So I was at the Scribe Southern Caravan this afternoon. The Scribe Caravans are traveling popup pen stores that visit different cities in the Philippines. Scribe brick and mortar branches are concentrated in Metro Manila, so it makes sense for them to visit other metros and provincial cities so people can buy writing instruments and stationery. I bought a Sailor Tuzu ballpoint in purple to match a fountain pen I already had. And this enamel pin. So happy!
Just received a bottle of Pen and Message Cigar, my absolute grail Japanese fountain pen ink, as a gift from a friend who just arrived from Japan. Yay, I now have a backup bottle! The first bottle I bought had been so hard to acquire, I didn't think I would be able to get another one. I love this greeny-browny-olive ink so much!

Helping organize the Scribe Southern (Luzon) Caravan for May 23. Still looking for a venue that can accommodate everyone that has good food. The Caravan is local retailer Scribe PH's mobile fountain pen pop-up. So far they've done Cebu, Iloilo and Davao. This time they're going to do the Calabarzon region.

So I was thinking of what to ink the TWSBI Eco B with next, and found an unsealed bottle of Dominant Industry Autumn Forest, which is a green ink with red shimmer. It came with its own little pouch in the box, and a mini plastic pipette.

@xenogon@sunny.garden I attended a Sailor Custom Ink Mixing session during the Manila Pen Show last year and had a seaweed green-brown-olive ink dupe made for Pen and Message Cigar, which I called Konbu, after the seaweed. I love it, hahaha.

ABS-CBN: INVASIVE SQUIRREL SPECIES SPOTTED IN METRO MANILA
Sightings of the Finlayson's squirrel in parts of Metro Manila have been confirmed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
It said that the squirrel is an "invasive species that may threaten local ecosystems" and its presence locally should not be promoted.
The Finlayson's squirrel is native to other countries in Southeast Asia such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, & Vietnam, the DENR added.
