@ami_angelwings@urusai.social Gacha games are definitely predatory but in many cases I don't think are uniquely predatory, and a lot of the disdain for gacha games from western gamers is ultimately xenophobia (or, often, specifically sinophobia)
Like, yes, gacha games are inherently exploitative. But so are subscription based games you can no longer access at all when you can't afford your subscription. So are battle passes. so are fomo cosmetic shops. Every profitable business model for live service games IS exploitative, because that's what makes money.
Some gacha games are far worse for it, and are deeply exploitative (looking at you, Fate Grand Order), but I don't think it's all that different from the sunk cost of other live service games expecting you to play daily in the abstract.

@ami_angelwings edelgard did nothing wrong and I WILL die on this hill
(The discourse well around FE3H is just poisoned by the fact that the same characters take radically different courses of action depending on the route you play and Edelgard is tremendously evil if you play Dmitri's route but the inverse is true if you play her route, so people will literally talk past each other)
that all aside: Edelgard did nothing wrong death to the church

@pencilears nyc for people who were never nerds that talk about how nerdy they were in high school because they watched two episodes of dragon ball
sf is for people that watched 200 episodes of dragon ball and then decided "actually i want to be evil now"
seattle is for people that have every anime theyve ever watched logged, rated, and reviewed on some decentralized media rating website and then complain when people ask them if they have a MyAnimeList
