I can generally forgive AI assisted/polished writing if the point is still compelling, but man, there is no excuse for *this* BS. It's not a chart, it's not a diagram, I don't know what to call it.

(the rest of the post isn't that compelling either, and is just the easy dunks on Zuck’s hand waving manifesto)

Saw this from 404 Media this morning about Accenture and tokens used converting documents: https://www.404media.co/the-tokenpocalypse-is-here-companies-are-scrambling-to-stop-spending-so-much-on-ai/

Immediately thought of Github's new Github Copilot App, where the promo material and videos I've seen so far consist of people basically burning tokens getting updates on stuff with LLMs, rather than writing an automation to do that thing with a script (even with the LLM writing the code)

The Tokenpocalypse Is Here: Companies Are Scrambling To Stop Spending So Much on AI

Leaked audio from Accenture says a big source of AI token ‘chewing’ is people just converting PDFs to presentation slides.

My sympathies to every other parent out there trying to sign kids up for services in a responsible manner and having to deal with all the different parental features. Exhausting.

Ah yes, the “everyone else is doing it" defense, put forward by school children everywhere.

“"CCTV cameras are everywhere. They are owned by private businesses, local councils, they are around the world ... and who are they owned by, no-one would know," he said.”

(although granted, it actually sounds like this trial might be trying to at least make an effort to preserve privacy of people not already being looked for?)

Sums up lots of my life:

1. Open new browser tab group for focused task.
2. Pin email tab so it can be accessed everywhere.
3. Open a link from email in focused tab group accidentally.
4. Rabbit hole five more links from newly opened tab into new tabs.
5. Don't read new tabs but leave them open because they're interesting.
6. Rinse and repeat over a few days.
7. Abandon tab group and start over.

And this is how I constantly live with 100+ open tabs, most of which aren't visible at any one time.

Canavan might be surprised to discover it’s just “anti dickhead” ideology, or as I prefer to call it “critical thinking”.

I was listening to an episode of the Hello World podcast (https://www.raspberrypi.org/hello-world/podcast/teacher-tips-keeping-your-classroom-safe-online) on the drive in this morning, and while they were discussing teaching kids about password management I had a horrible thought - in this age of "oh my chatbot just *knows* me”, have we gotten to the stage where people are using LLMs for password suggestions or reminding them what their password is?

I was looking for a p5 sketch that I'd done for maths class last year, and then stumbled on this one, which I did for Genuary a few years ago.

Those weird little birds still bring me joy.

Saw this @404mediaco@mastodon.social piece about the US FCC wanting to introduce KYC for mobile phones, and as an Aussie the wild part to me has been the volume of stories about SIM farms, volumes of robocalls etc that I read about from other countries.

Also 😆 to the following, I'll keep KYC along with compulsory voting thx:

"alarming privacy advocates and civil rights activists who compare the measures to those from authoritarian countries where it can be difficult to buy a mobile phone plan without giving up your identity”
