@raphnet@mastodon.gamedev.place i guess it's reasonable that they didn't realize or care what CRAPO sounds like in english but... je suis désolée d'avoir ri

@gewt now wondering if trans folk just prefer short names (and i probably shouldn't assume most of your dates were trans)
Replying to
@gewt sometimes a japanese language game with roman input had a 4 limit, because 4 characters is plenty writing your name in hiragana... at least SARA fits... or better yet ONFY
Replying to
@gewt that was definitely me, i had memories of my name being too long to put in video games
sarah is short enough for almost all games!

@argv_minus_one i've thought about doing that, though i suspect she has me beat in both brains and looks...
Replying to
@argv_minus_one yeah... just need to find a way out of this situation
the complete destruction of labour really isn't doing me any favours here
Replying to
@argv_minus_one someone coming into my life who constantly is hurling insults at me and degrading me hardly helps

@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems like look at ontario, there's hamilton, toronto, ottawa (which feels like it's on another planet) and then what? rest of the province is just nothing! the gta already feels too big and like everything is too far away, why does everything else have to be so much farther still?
Replying to
@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems you're right that i can't, but 3rd person, it feels disorienting not being able to see the steering wheel!
and to be clear i have successfully backed in trailers just with 1st person and keyboard controls... make of that what you will
Replying to
@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems idk the drive looked stressful
Replying to
@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems idk how good my awareness is... i know it's very different but i can say when i try doing that in ets2 i usually fuck myself and cause an accident
Replying to
@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems the controller moves the wheel, and as a consequence i can press right and still go left if my wheel hasn't centred. makes turns harder
Replying to
@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems idk what they should've done, but something doesn't feel right that it's so big and empty
Replying to
@tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems @The_T@glaceon.social i really feel like you must like driving more than i do... i was just in the passenger seat chatting and playing bad games and i kinda hated it
Replying to
@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems i've never actually done the online at all and never signed up for an account... feels too stressful... (thus i haven't gotten any of those achievements either)
Replying to
@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems anyway do you think holly could just throw me
Replying to
@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems there's a lot of canada that's just nothing (probably could've been farms were it not for capitalism and the premier)
or you know, land back!
Replying to
@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems slightly related, but that does remind me of how a friend gets confused on how mail from quebec to ontario is so much faster that from manitoba or alberta. i had to explain how it's really far, difficult to travel through, and that in general the ontario-manitoba border is kind of a bottleneck for the whole country
upon further reflection it feels like a damn miracle how canada post gets stuff here from montreal within a few days and from calgary in under 2 weeks!
Replying to
@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems they should've just not made everything so big
Replying to
@tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems yeah... and that's what i meant. if we myopically focus on trans rights, then even if we succeed completely, if it's just comfortable to be trans while throwing immigrants, or indigenous people (and the many others i'm forgetting) then that's no good, there will still be misery, for trans and cis people alike...
i look forward to that. and seeing you again one day. and i'd also like to have a little car chat some time!
Replying to
@tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems i still hope you can get pr one day...but yeah. it's kind of what i meant even? they're such different experiences, only really related in the sense that you sometimes are seen differently, i guess they might not combine much (or maybe they do) but they're both things you deal with in some way, these combined aspects...
Replying to
@tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems i guess it's good to know that if i ever want to travel out of province it'd probably suck by car... maybe i'll try to travel by train...
Replying to
@tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems really busy here too! been going here and there almost every day, quite exciting...
after visiting vaughan idk that i wanna travel anymore for a short while... the trip there and back kinda sucked. idk how people can do that every day
Replying to
@tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems is "intersectionality" the right word? let's make this a better society for immigrants, trans people, and everyone else that doesn't fall into those categories... i'm glad you came here and that i get to have you as a friend!
Replying to
@tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems it's ok, the family feud host has a jeering, mocking voice

@typhlosion@denden.world a spoon is so much more convenient to get the stuff out of the jar!!!
Replying to
@grim_fandango@mas.to vhs supports captions as a standard feature (i feel like pal countries got screwed on videotape!) so that should be easier, yes... idk if the same can be said about fancier stuff like text mode, but those were so rare i never actually saw them in use
despite being easily display ntsc captions on a crt, capturing them into a pc and subsequently playing them back has been a royal pain so far...
Replying to
@typhlosion@denden.world that can work for nut butter, but is slower, and the jam just falls right off!
Replying to
@grim_fandango@mas.to i found this https://github.com/ali1234/raspi-teletext thanks to you, but the problem remains putting together the rest of the owl. nothing is as complete as what you seem to have put together
Replying to
@grim_fandango@mas.to i thought i read vhs has insufficient bandwidth to record teletext? anyway... can this do anything for ntsc caption data as well?
Replying to
@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems does that work with proton...?
tbh i've thought a wheel controller would be nice, but i can't justify the cost
