Ollie Francis

Just found a new definition of 'a life well lived'.

This resonates with me. My most interesting writing comes from times when I've allowed myself to just sit there. An empty mind is a blank canvas for creativity.

Now, let's get back to scrolling...

The more I scroll, the less I connect.

We need better animations. And more of them. Some things just don't work in live action. Animation gives us so much more.
I want Mieville's Perdido Street Station or Banks' Culture series imagined in a way the camera could never capture. I want the intimacy of On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous or In The Dream House rendered in art so beautiful it makes me cry.
I want to watch something that only makes sense in pen and ink.

There's a disappointment in finding answers to some of the more meaningful questions in life. Sometimes it's the pursuit that's more interesting than the destination.

"We hate poetry that has a palpable design upon us" - John Keats, 1818.

Art fails when it tries.

There's a worldwide Google Home/Nest outage.

Really makes me wish I had spent weeks researching, tentatively experimenting, hacking, programming, customising and rolling out a self hosted version to avoid literally minutes of inconvenience in moments like this.
