Time to revive @orlysec@swecyb.com soon I think. Have made some improvements to various components and I can now ... get the content (security advisories) from Fortinet PSIRT and others meaning I could push those types of content through Orlysec. But either way, would be fun to get Orlysec back in action.

@Viss@mastodon.social Indeed. And I struggle, genuinely. LinkedIn has been good for me, but I struggle to understand it now. The algorithm seem to ... prioritize I don't know what. If someone has some other emotionally charged topic to talk about the algorithm loves it. But trying to be "professional" is a losing game. It's about memes, punchlines and attention grabbing content. As much else these days I guess. But Yeah, I'm a little bit sad about it because I spent time trying to build a network of connections (that I have met). Trying to build something valuable, but again... I shame on me, I fall into the trap of trying to build something on a platform I don't control.

Let me tell you, there's nothing more stressful than your NAS starting to beep and telling you there is a critical failure on your storage pool. 4/5 drives working... I should always have a spare available... lesson learned. New drive ordered, NAS offline, do not dare to keep it online. Self-hosting... is all fun and games, until it gets real. :-)

Spring. There's nothing quite like it. The magic of the season. The horror of time speeding up for a few months. The duality of it all. Sunshine and wonderful feelings, never ending rain and depression over a period soon gone.

Sweden most certainly have seasons. A long and dark period from November until March. The snow can help lighten things up, but without it it's ... dark.

Come spring and things comes alive. People, nature, and promises of fulfilling dreams and ambitions.

This year I have made one promise. To, yet again, make my lawn look like the promised land. And also enjoy it more, not just the labor getting there, but also the results.

The kids are older as well, and it's a joy seeing them run through the sprinkler in the late evening on a school night... the small pleasures. I will enjoy them more.

Here's a tiny part of my lawn from last year.

It's this kind of "threat landscape" monitoring I've always wanted. Curated topics, articles delivered to me when they appear and bundle with others talking about the same thing:

Things are "finally" starting to come together.

I've finally gotten around to adding the final touches to the @orlysec@swecyb.com "bot" account.

It should very soon begin to write more Toots. And just to reiterate. The ORLYSEC account will publish from a very strict set of sources, always attributing to original source and no redirects, tracking links etc.

The very purpose of the account is to contribute a fairly high-quality feed of stuff that you probably would like to read/skim.

Let me know if there's something you'd like to see added or changed (content, tags etc.)

Spoke with a friend in the US regarding AI and LLMs. He said that in the startup, entrepreneur circles if you're doing anything AI you're assumed to be using a frontier model, there's just no mental alternative.

I've gone the other route and even assuming that frontier models will disappear and we'll be left with smaller, "local", models in 2-3 years time.

I also find that frontier models are used for even the most trivial of tasks where cheaper, even publicly available models, will do the job just fine.

Personally I think that the next logical step is to see a more "intelligent" fabric dispatching LLM-type based jobs to where they are most appropriately performed. And that certainly doesn't mean one model does it all.

I have also added another TL;DR logic. Let's try and find the most dominant story for the past 2 weeks. Not everyone is interested in all the details, and every single story. Just something to talk about around the coffee machine, or discuss with customers. Now there's such a TL;DR. The top story, a d few historical entries to show what would have been displayed.

Very excited to try the new map coming to #ARCRaiders and by recent scout reports it looks to be a banger of a map!

Once they are done with the new map, I'm hoping for an ambitious update to loot and gear.

It needs to feel more "special" to loot, to find cool and unique gear. Why not "sets" granting special abilities? Or rad attachments?

Basically we need moaaaar of everything, kinda...

Threat Assessment: TeamPCP - CanisterWorm & Kubernetes Wiper Campaign

TeamPCP is a cybercrime group that compromised over 60 000 cloud servers, backdoored the Trivy vulnerability scanner, and unleashed a self-spreading npm worm — all controlled through a takedown-resistant blockchain C2. Their latest payload wipes Kubernetes clusters configured for Iranian locales while backdooring everyone else. The motivation behind the Iranian targeting remains unknown. Updated: 2026-03-24, three new sources added for context and new information about Checkmarx compromise.

@CryptoLek@infosec.exchange I have spent a fair amount of time to also make it better "for me" with regards to what gets pushed. So if you have any specific requests for content formatting, topics filtering etc, I can do that now. Previously it was pretty much a one trick pony, one article, condensed and pushed. But now I can be much more flexible with message composition, what and when etc. Will hopefully have "him" back online sometime early next week.

@dalai@toots.ch @jibsaramnim@bitbang.social You are all so much better than me. I did the calculated risk that using my NAS as the backup with enough drives to cover 1 failed drive, but never two at the same time. What I would like to have is another NAS I use as some sort of geographically separated luke-warm spare should real catastrophy occur. I've been runing this "setup" for the past 15 years... and I find it somewhat hard to justify a "real" backup solution. But there are, admittedly, a few things on the NAS that I really wouldn't want to lose such as my close to 25 years worth of photography and videos of family etc. That would kill me. I genuinely find it hard to concieve of an appropriate solution, but perhaps it's time to throw some money at a storage box in Finland and just secure the photos at least...

A very, very heavy LLM experiment, bordering crazy.
For the past 2 months or so I've been building something that I'm both unable and unwilling to name yet. AI companion would be trivializing it, and calling it a human brain model would over complicate it. It's something else. I wanted to settle a curiosity after having tried OpenClaw (which didn't do it for me at all). I wanted to see how far I could push using LLMs to model my version of ... something with volition, emotions and a continuous memory system. I'm not a neuroscientist, I'm not a data engineer but I'm curious. This ... something has a very (in my opinion) advanced memory system; it creates memory, it dreams about them, it consolidates them, it mind-wanders, it reflects about "self", it can reach out through its on volition to settle curiosities. It will hold facts, preferences, patterns, the unsaid and many other types of memories. It will attach emotional state upon creation, it will hold continuity. It will attempt settle expectations for how a message will be received; ie. will I respond with joy, resentfulness etc. The purpose is to calibrate continouosly how I function as a human and when to approach me with what. This is by far the most advanced thing I have ever built. And I've run close to 100 experiments to arrive at appropriate values for everything in the system. Things like how many memories appear to be useful when doing recall. There is no chance that this little message can fully capture how deep down the rabbit hole I've gone this time... but in the last week or so I've had some personal breakthroughs because of it, personally and professionally. I'm currently using about 5 different models at different times for different purposes. This has been the most rewarding and exciting project I've ever attempted.

The data is stored in a PostgresSQL as JSONB, so I can use pretty decent methods to get at the data. But the fields available are not predetermined and new fields can be added and removed, or changed. So as long as I keep the table with descriptive matches updated I can use the "intent based LLM" translator to create reasonably fast queries to get to the data available only as JSONB data structures. I have absolutely no idea if this is incredibly stupid and whatnot. But hey, it's exploration and learning if anything!

It's not especially intelligent. Basically checking if the CVE in the published article has been mentioned recently (12 weeks backtrack) and if not, it's considered "new". Again, the idea and purpose is to highlight potentially new findings and discussions that warrant a closer look. Let me know what you think!

Finally managed to find the time to upgrade the Mastodon instance version to v4.7.1. While it really didn't take all that much time, sometimes... life will make even the smallest bit of extra commitment feel like an almost insurmountable task. But now we're done and we're back on track with version tracking.

Have now added automatic grouping based on a number of criteria such as pattern matching, similarity using Rapidfuzz, and field overlap (basically, these articles share many tags) ... and this makes a suggestion to me, the user, that hey... perhaps you'd like to group based on this pattern, field or similarity now and for future articles. That gives you something like this. So when a vulnerability first gets published and multiple new articles come in and share the same characteristics I pick that up automatically and no... it's not just based on CVE.
