So your outrage is selective. And none of them donating money has ruined Blender, nor will it in future... it has only ensured that Blender can keep expanding and improving. Doing this weird purity test on all donations would mean no more funding at all. That *would* ruin Blender.

@hbons@mastodon.social So is Meta. Google too. Both are pushing gen AI hard. Microsoft was also a sponsor previously, owners of OpenAI. They've done a lot of harm too. Why is this one different? It's a donation like any other. They're not giving away control to this company.

@Bugspriet@social.tchncs.de @stefan@stefanbohacek.online I think that's because the larger Smart setting is turned off, so all of it is turned off which you can see if you scroll down (it's like this in my settings). I think in Europe all this crap is turned off by default because without active consent Google would be violating EU law a thousand ways.

@BaronessWinter@beige.party It's not pedantic, it's *the entire point*. If this is an issue at all, then previous sponsors should have been as huge of an issue, yet THEY WERE NOT. It negatively affected Blender in no way at all... only adding more funds for development without changing its mission. Ergo: this is no different and people are massively overreacting.
