Open post Neil Gall @neilgall@mastodon.scot · 2mo ago Replying to @greg_harvey@tooting.ch It's funny how much modern #EV predicted ranges fluctuate. Obviously depending on software, but our ID.Buzz bases future range on recent past driving, I think a lot of EV brains do. It tends to do a lot of motorway and fast roads in #France and the max range prediction hovers around 320/330 kilometres. Here in #Italy it's the only car with us for a month and it's doing all the ducking about, so now the prediction is close to 400 kilometres. EVs much prefer shopping trips to motorway runs. 😅 @greg_harvey@tooting.ch I think EVs are very happy with both, but going faster requires more energy. It's just physics.

Open post Neil Gall @neilgall@mastodon.scot · 6mo ago Replying to @Amorpheus@kind.social @ketan@climatejustice.social Who would have thought that MAGA will be the instance that puts true pressure on global energy transition. We assumed oil magnats and the power the US received from binding the oil price to the Dollar will remain the primary force having everyone stick to fossil fuels. Just as with BigTech, they go all in, ruining the entire US economy, as most nations now diverge from their economic influence. The historic conclusion will be how the most influencial nation lost it all by stupidity. @Amorpheus@kind.social @ketan@climatejustice.social My 2026 bingo card has Trump falling out with the fossil fuel lobby and embracing renewables to spite them. Feels slightly more likely each month.
