"To all my writer friends that use MS Word - Microsoft has turned their Al bits and bots on to automatically go through anything done via Word. Here's how to turn it off. File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options > Privacy Settings > Connected Experiences"

On the Mac I found it under Word/Excel/Etc > Preferences > Privacy, and near the bottom was the checkbox for "Turn on optional connected experiences" which of course was on by default.

"Just a day after Tim Pool blamed the victims of the Club Q shooting by having a "grooming event," Elon Musk is palling around with Tim Pool. ELON is implicitly endorsing the calls for violence against LGBTQ people." - Alejandra Caraballo (@Esqueer_@twitter.com and @esqueer@mastodon.social )

"If you didn’t have our military equipment, this war would have been over in two weeks." - Donald Trump

Is he suggesting that US military aid came within 2 weeks of the 2022 invasion, or at all in 2014 after they invaded Crimea?

Fucker, elderly Ukrainian women were taking out Russian drones with molotov cocktails from their apartment windows!

At least when Epcor knocks on our door and tells us that they are cutting off our water in 20 minutes because the water main broke in the alley, we're prepared.

The city has warned us since the big thaw, that water mains are breaking and if you are unfortunate enough to be in the area it happens, you will have your water cut while they work on it, which won't all happen on the same day.

Also, they ask you to report if you see any water bubbling up on your street or alley.

And our stove broke.

According to US president Trump and vice president JD Vance, if you contradict Russian propaganda in any way, that is an "attack" on the US administration, and defending yourself against Russian attacks is "very disrespectful to this country" (USA).

Wow, Trump's administration have really got their backs up to defend Russia.

No, Europe does not stand with Russia and you can't be on the same side as Europe when you are on the side of the Russian invasion.

Amongst those Charlie Kirk openly called for violence against were trans folks, Blacks, women, queers, and educators. He said trans women were pervert men preying on real women, that Black workers are unqualified DEI hires and should not have jobs because they can't make proper life decisions despite being freed from slavery for 150 years, cried vehemently against women's rights, and created a "watch list" to dox Black and queer professors and make them easy to stalk. He was a White Supremacist who said that Critical Race Theory is "racism against whites" and held an "Exposing Critical Racism Tour (CRT)". He called public services "communism" to rile people up through "red scare" tactics. All this while telling us that those he does like, namely red-blooded straight white Conservative men, should all have guns to carry out their objectives, or as Gavin Newsom put it, "to continue his work".

Why the mourning over a lost Nazi?

“Budget 2025 and the government’s three-year fiscal plan is a blueprint to starve health care, education, and public service workers into submission,” says AUPE Vice-President Sandra Azocar.

“Is the government moving money around to help hard-working Albertans, or are they manufacturing a deficit so that the government can cry poor at the bargaining table?

AUPE members are prepared to fight for what we deserve – on the picket line if necessary.”

I finally got to watch Netflix's "Bigfoot Family" with the kids.

And it was made obvious to me how ridiculous it was that Alberta's UCP government saw themselves so clearly in the super villain of a European film production, that they took the movie as a personal affront against themselves and their oil industry cronies. What a sad moment of self-realization with a complete lack of self-reflection.

@lexi @esqueer@mastodon.social Now in the new Twitter 2.0, I literally do not feel safe to post on Twitter anymore. My account is still there but seeing all the hate and vitriol, I will not open my mouth because I've been there far too many times. I only lurk there, then bring discussions here where there is actual free-speech, because my voice is not being suppressed by bigots.

@Tattooed_mummy@wandering.shop

Same.... T-T

I saw it happen first late last night, but was expecting it to be fixed by the morning.

Back in the day an expired certificate didn't mean death. Browsers would simply prompt you to view the certificate and/or continue. Now they just block the site completely. :(

It should be a simple matter for the web host or certificate issuer to renew.

@mathzy@mastodon.green SSL certificate issue. It's a simple certificate expiration, from what I can see, but times have changed and browsers are now blocking access completely, whereas back in the day they would simply prompt you to continue after viewing the certificate. Ack.

I used to have these problems on my website sometimes, but now the system is more automated. The web host should be the one to fix it, or the certificate issuer who is listed as "Let's Encrypt" or "Internet Security Research Group".

I came on this account to see if anybody has any news about it being attended to, but alas not. :(

@QasimRashid@mastodon.social Note though that billionaires do not actually have taxable income. Income tax is for workers. The average billionaire pays $0/a. 8.2% or 13% (or 25-33% in Canada) makes no difference, as any percentage of $0 is still $0. We need a wealth tax, not income tax.

"New UCP budget doesn’t hire enough workers.

The provincial government of Alberta recently released their latest budget, and while the number of public sector workers increased, it didn’t keep up with population growth."

@Daojoan When I started using Mastodon during the Twitter exodus when Musk first took over, I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent engagement! I felt like I was back in the early Twitter days when I couldn't even keep up with the conversations on my Blackberry. I had been mostly inactive on Twitter for a decade.

@esqueer@mastodon.social Since this post got boosted again, I'm going to add an update. "Cis is a officially a slur and we will ban accounts which use it," became the catalyst for me to completely delete my inactive Twitter account for good. It's absolutely shocking to think that they went that far. How is anybody still there?

@geoffreyfowler @washingtonpost This should come as no surprise to anyone, as paid verification is literally the EXACT OPPOSITE of the entire purpose of the entire verified process. Only a billionaire who believes "only people with money should matter to anyone" would come up with this.

@guilevi@dragonscave.space I mean, I was on Twitter at the start (not to be misleading, I wasn't active on it for years after its original popularity), and I had never heard of using image descriptions until I joined Mastodon. :) Since then, I have been doing my best to keep up on them. The "Detect from Image" button really helps for OCR readable text.
