please please please read Magic Doctor Rex's Perverted Medical Record, I promise you it's absolutely hilarious and the doctor is NOT the perverted one in this series lmaoooo

It's the first manga series I've seen that's had such an honest, frank viewpoint towards sex and sexuality.

@nikury@mastodon.art shared their result and I wanted to take it too!

Haha I guess I should be glad I have a nendo of Moomintroll. But I'm definitely not outdoorsy lol

I'm pretty happy with the progress I've made with my Astro Book Tracker!

I wanted to create tool for myself so that in case Storygraph ever goes down, I have all my reading data in a format that's portable. Of course, it uses Netlify hosting, functions, and blob functionality so it's not really a "static" site.

But honestly I wasn't aiming for static this time, just something I could easily use as a reading tracker. I'll probably use this and Storygraph simultaneously for now to see how things go.

It's my first monthly reading wrapup on my new account!

Here's what I thought of:

• Indie Microblogging by Manton Reece

I only read one book this month, due to various factors. Didn't finish the book I started last month either...I'll get back on the horse next month!

@geraineon@sakurajima.social posted about this on their account on priv but can't hurt to share:

Legend of Galactic Heroes is getting a new gorgeous edition in French from Mahô Éditions:

"This new French edition will offer the series in light novel format, illustrated by the Japanese artist @t0mat0juice , whose style pays homage to the original work while giving it a fresh visual identity. The French edition will be offered in a double format, for a total of 7 volumes."

I got tired of waiting for a re-license or continuation of Dawn of the Mapmaker / Tsukumo no Reimei (it's been years) so I bought the jp books to MTL.

Wish me luck I guess lol.

@arimamary@sakurajima.moe yeah small perks of running your own instance I guess! The feature was added recently and i wanted to test it out

@hollo I would definitely be interested in seeing what a Hollo web front end looks like, and it might make it easier/more user friendly to do other admin tasks as well.

I'm sure it's going to be super busy during Anime Expo though, probably not going to go then lol

Youtube/Google continues to enshittify 🥴

@9to5google@mastodon.online

I've decided to start linkblogging on my main when I find an interesting article or blog post

This was one of the most memorable blog posts I read, that really got me thinking about how I wanted to structure my own blog. It really inspired me to research how static sites worked, and if I could set up an SSG too.

Looks like they gave up on the earlier "Flames of Fate" darker concept for DQ12...

I currently host a FreshRSS (RSS feed reader) instance, and I'm open to letting my mutuals use it too as a free service.

You can use it to follow as many RSS feeds as you like! I think RSS feeds are an important way of interacting with the web that is unfortunately overly monetized.

If you'd like to be added, let me know!

Just understand that I am not a professional sysadmin, and I'm running this as a hobby project:

1. If I have to shut it down, I'll give you ample warning (to the best of my ability).
2. You have to be okay with me having access to your data, because I'm running this on my VPS.
3. Please don't follow anything that will get us in legal trouble.

Omg a new Twelve Kingdoms book was announced!

It's called 幽冥の岸 (Yumei no Kishi / The Shores of the Underworld)

My May 2026 Reads

Here's what I thought of:

• Light Novels
• Tsukumo no Reimei / Dawn of the Mapmaker will get a series review once I'm done reading the whole series in machine translation, and I already did a review of the 1st volume here

Started:

• Empty Planet: The Shock of Global Population Decline by John Ibbitson, Darrell Bricker

This is terrible! :opnamiangry: @JMarkOckerbloom@mastodon.social

I reduced my over-spending on games but the money is just going towards books anyways

Man I love this premise, I should check this out LOL https://tippy.rabbithouse.garden/notes/an0mjm29tm74nakb

Media proxy is a big feature, that means I'm not worried about filling up the disk space on my server anymore!

The new UI looks great too @hollo@hollo.social

@arimamary@sakurajima.moe it's honestly a lot of work to add them, so you quickly learn to only do the ones you really like lol I found these here: https://www.sigstick.com/pack/QkDGXfpzX5CJo2Mgxle5-one-piece-animated-emoji These are actually stickers meant for messaging apps, but I manually saved them and uploaded them as emojis

@arimamary@sakurajima.moe yeah, follow/subscribe button won't mean anything anymore

Nippon Sangoku is the most old-man yaoi show ever, I love it 😭 (Ryumon/Kaku is so real I swear)

Aoteru is the main character but he barely shows up lol. It all feels like a prologue so far.

Wow there's going to be an integration between Kobo and Storygraph! Can't wait to try it out

I saw a spider in the bathroom and now I can't take a shower 💢

I ordered books from Merry Manga Co. on April 24th and they said it would take 3 weeks for backordered books.

They still haven't shipped them out yet :opchopperplease:

I'm gonna give it one more week before contacting them since Lord of Mysteries released on the 12th, but not sure if I would order from them again if it takes this long without any updates

@anime@ricard.social yeah I could maybe struggle through a short story, but reading an entire novel is too much brain power for me, especially since I would be looking up words every sentence haha

Ooh can't wait to see what's announced

I've been given too much power... :opluffycool:

:opluffypunch: :opluffypunch2:

I thought getting a VPS would be too expensive or not worth it, but I've got sooo many projects setup now that make my life better.

Mist Vol. 1 (Haitang Books) is available for preorder from Kinokuniya but I'm honestly a little worried about the translation quality after the whole debacle over their earlier releases.

I really want it though...

#Mist #薄雾

I just went through and archived all the fanfics I'd be sad about not getting to read anymore. As always, I've given myself too much power lol. Readeck has really nice tagging and collections abilities, so once you setup a collection with a specific set of tags, it will auto-update the collection!

This manga sounds interesting 🤣 https://tippy.rabbithouse.garden/notes/ami4axlahfxj2mab
