@malwaretech I think you underestimate how ancient some of us are. I'm definitely older than anything my mobile provider owns, cos I'm older than the industry.

@jess@blop.social Sounds like you should absolutely not order any of the FANTASTIC barrel aged imperial stout from Tartarus then... https://www.tartarusbeers.co.uk/products/jersey-devil-brandy-ba-hazelnut-latte-cake-imperial-stout-14-6

@jess@blop.social We got a pair of subzero stick PAs from gear4music (its their own brand) for the hackspace. Reasonably cheap, suitably loud (audible in a pretty big room @ leeds light night even though there was a silent disco nextdoor full of screaming kids). Reasonably priced, flexible connectivity, takes up very little room. Obviously a bit modern if you're wanting a retro look.

@foone@digipres.club Read "Red Star Rogue". Its entirely possible it wasn't quite as unsuccessful as they'd like you to think. Of course the truth is probably somewhere in between.

@jess@blop.social You say that... But the last one I bought came in its own hardcase, there are 2 sillier, one has the same objective and is slightly longer, but I own a teleconverter, so it would be utterly pointless, and the other last sold for €400k, and as much as I'd love to own THAT legend its just not happening!

@IAmDannyBoling @jakobtougaard @darwinwoodka @malwaretech Oh those could be fitted in cars - the main unit clamped into a bracket in the boot, and there was a handset with keypad inside for the driver.

@jess@blop.social Unless you absolutely have to go to Leeds I'd avoid it today, given the interesting selection of protesters planning on being there.

@tamonten About 2 years ago I dropped a box of machine screws... It had M2, M3, M4, M5 and M6 of different lengths, different heads, plus nuts and various types of washers, all nicely sorted into compartments... It was about 2 months ago that I FINALLY finished sorting them, having just picked them (all but the stainless ones) up with a magnet and chucked them back in the box.

@jess@blop.social Yeah, motor spindle, 1 pulse per rev is probably far more use than the strobe marks on the edge of the turntable.

@snowden@chaos.social @tamonten@mstdn.social I feel this is relevant to your interests: https://hackaday.com/2026/02/24/elongating-a-bmx-for-drag-racing/

Elongating A BMX For Drag Racing

BMX bikes are a unique frame geometry, essentially forgoing all travel efficiency for maneuverability and sturdiness. For how much abuse these bikes are designed to take, these are all good tradeof…

@jess@blop.social What interfaces have you got on your scope? Is THAT supported by sigrok? Being able to log multiple channels from various points in the circuit could be useful.

@jess@blop.social Can you hack an rpm sensor together with a bit of reflective tape and LED/photodiode to log that too?
