We're buying a new home soon. :) If we wake up feeling good about it, we'll put an offer in first thing tomorrow morning.

Hello friends. Short update - my wife is now with me in Canada. Immigration process complete. It's been great. :)
My wife's permanent residence is approved! We just need to send her passport to the embassy now. The embassy will put a special foil in there and then she'll be coming home with me. 🤩🤩🤩
It's my wife's and my six month wedding anniversary today. Very very happy.
I got a new MIDI controller and began playing a keyboard again! It's been a long time, but I nailed chopsticks. I still got it! 😂
Seriously though: It works nicely in the DAW in Linux, but latency is a problem. Is JACK still the go-to here for real-time audio? Or is PipeWire good for that these days as well?
Slow slow slow slow. I hope it doesn't stay stuck in UPDATE_COMPLETE_CLEANUP_IN_PROGRESS for too many hours. 😂
The Google Maps Javascript API, often used to embed a map in your site, is vulnerable to a Denial of Wallet attack. You can accrue thousands of dollars in fraudulent charges from Google within hours, often faster than budget alerts can detect and report.
It's being abused by Agents, through Referer header spoofing. This after Google spent a decade telling us that Maps keys are non-sensitive and meant to be public. Their referer and api access security controls can't even prevent this attack.
Man. Entra and Windows/AD killed my week.
I finally pulled the trigger and changed over to new accounting software for '26.
I tried a bunch of open and closed products. The open ones are pretty good, but they lack easy bank transaction feeds. I'm not manually bookeeping, so I ruled them all out.
Among the closed, Xero was the best for me. The accountants at home all know how to use it, and Xero has a partner program so I can probably even resell or build apps for it.
Happy happy.
