News: my time as an IBMer has ended, after nearly 10 years in Software and Consulting.
I'm looking for new remote opportunities to do UX Architecture, Front-end Dev, Design Systems, or generally bolster teams and contribute to good apps and sites that help people. I have 30 years of experience making things for the web.
I've been building an automated workflow to help me with my search, you can read about it here: https://mikesusz.dev/blog/job-search/
feel free to reach out or forward, thanks!
it’s been really wild how much of my “identity” i wrapped up with my employer. but now im realizing what the limitations of that were also. i’m free now.

a while back i was doing a woodworking project and i needed a nailset (used to hammer finish nails to slightly under the surface of the wood without denting the wood with the hammer). i couldn't find one forever. and i have two of them!
when i finally found them both, i also realized - i only have two boxes of finish nails.
so i put a nailset into each box.
this little “summer preview” allowed us to uncover and test the air conditioning to make sure it’s ready when “summer preview 2” or “real summer” arrives.
now we’re back to having the windows open and tomorrow morning it might be chilly enough to use the pellet stove.

it's been a heck of a week.

so today, i acted on some jealousy i had of the dimensions that @marcamos@front-end.social added to his reading page ( https://marcamos.com/reading/ ) and i added “Series” and the ability to log Ratings on my own reading list https://reading.mikesusz.com/ in the future. (marc still has photos and layout and stuff, which will always keep me jealous)
today is a preemptive ibuprofen kind of day
zoom in!
Spicy robot.
now that i don't need the laptop shelf, would adding another 27” be egregious? 🤔
