I make weird tech and I do art on and off the internet. I used to be a scientist, but I don't do that so much any more. I run @pervasivemediastudio@mastodon.social (the place, not the mastodon account)
I wrote about the last year! with pictures! https://mewo2.com/2026/01/05/
one again it's time for the artist residency I run at @pervasivemediastudio@mastodon.social!
our 2026 theme is "if these walls could talk" - we're looking for creative tech projects that engage with ideas of place, presence, all that jazz. artists get £2750, plus time and support from our team (including me!)
this year we're recruiting for two tracks - a "focused" track in spring 2026, and a "flexible" track across 2026-7. if you struggle with intense time commitment, this is for you!

I'm trying to get hold of the archive of "Video Nation" shorts that were shown on the BBC in the 90s. They used to be on the BBC website, but the Realplayer servers were shut down, so now there's a bunch of dead streaming links: https://www.bbc.co.uk/videonation/archive/
Does anyone who has access to, uh, "unofficial media archives" know if there's a copy of them in circulation? Or maybe someone who works at the BBC? I promise not to ask any questions about how you obtained this material
