After a series of plot twists, my daughter is setting up for learning bass guitar next year. She had to test 5 different instruments (2 courses each) to discover different things and settle her mind, but she knew she wanted to learn the electric guitar. As she showed some ease on the guitar, the teacher offered her to try bass, and she loved it. But the last instrument she tried was the flute and she absolutely loved the sound and was torn... After some additional thinking, bass is apparently her choice, the perspective of playing together is appealing for her. And my wife might learn the flute in the end 😅
There's many things I don't know how to do, but I now have a couple of friends who are very talented with everything requiring the usage of tools. And so today I fixed something on my car with one of them which would have probably cost me 100 to 300€ in a shop. A month ago I fixed a shower which was leaking for months (the guys who installed it came 3 times already, always failing to fix the issue) with another friend.
Nothing can beat friends and community. And I learn things in the process, and in many cases it ends up with a good beer!
I'm a lucky bastard as the temperature (first floor) of my house is only 23°C after 4 days of 35+°C outside. Our current house has one wall underground on the first floor, very efficient to stay cool — I'm kinda worried it won't be the same in our next home; very first world problem. Our previous apartment reached 27+°C with this kind of heatwave. Heat comfort should not be a privilege. I'm also surprised to see all these new houses that are supposedly more energy efficient — I'm 100% they are not designed to sustain high temperature, and global warming is not really going to slow down in the years to come; this kind of insufferable weather is here to stay 😔
Being an adult means that when your better half comes back home with a friend after seeing a play, and you've spent 1h30 putting your kids to bed, and it's still a bazillion degrees outside, it's the perfect time for mojitos
