New release: surf-ori/agentic-tools 🦶

The ORI DuckLake is now filled with OpenAlex, OpenAIRE, and CRIS data from Dutch institutions — open, serverless, no credentials needed.

You can now query it in natural language via an MCP server + Claude. Ask questions, get real SQL results back from real data.

Who owns the information about research?
Open science needs open research information as part of a shared knowledge commons.
Together with Dutch Barcelona Declaration signatories, we analysed with @MsPhelps@akademienl.social 14 use cases and developed the ORI Monitoring Framework to identify gaps in metadata quality across CRISsystems @euroCRIS@mastodon.world , @OpenAlex@mastodon.social and @OpenAIREGraph@mastodon.social

@egonw we wrapped that in a project proposal, with some crucial additions, like building a sustainable governance structure around it, connecting to an open access vision that includes green oa as the failsave mechanism to keep the door open for transition, enabling forward compatibility towards a PRC model. Also enabling the long-term preservation of the scholarly record by the national library.

@egonw sure. We use OpenAIRE services, like provide, broker, graph, gateway and monitor, to collect all publications, data sets, software, etc (also the ones without a doi, but other pid) from Dutch repository and research information systems, bring that together with the metadata from the rest of the world, enrich that with missing and inferred (text mining) information, offering that back to the originating systems, and make it discoverable as a Dutch collection on a portal, and a dashboard.

@egonw the data it will produce, can be used further down the line for use cases like a data Hub, open science monitoring, a portal for public engagement, etc I hope that explains a bit more.
