@hugh@social.crablab.uk @eta@gotosocial.i.eta.st nice, finally!

@eta@gotosocial.i.eta.st @hugh@social.crablab.uk yes, but it's rare there's a queue, and you just show it to the attendant who waves you through. Sometimes that's very slightly faster than the gateline queue. You do still need to book (free) reserved seats on some trains but you don't need to use machines for that.

@hugh@social.crablab.uk the regional ones are cheaper if you know you're e.g. staying in Tokyo for a week, but then you probably want a national one if you're going cross-country

@hugh@social.crablab.uk depends a lot on your itinerary. The time limit, split between JR East and West and ineligibility for metro lines can all make it tricky to calculate.

@eta@gotosocial.i.eta.st @hugh@social.crablab.uk the main inconvenience ime is getting it in the first place, as the queues in airports can be a nightmare
