I'm nearly certain I've posted about this before, but it's coming in clutch for me again right now and want to give it another shoutout. If you suffer from #tinnitus and sometimes have trouble tuning it out, give this a shot. It's a customizable noise generator that uses various nighttime bug chirps to naturally mask the sound. Your mileage may vary but it's been a true sanity saver for me. https://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/ultrasonicNoiseGenerator.php

@PeterMLittle@mas.to That sounds absolutely devastating, especially for it to be that sudden and disruptive. I'm so sorry you've had to deal with that. :(
I feel like I'm weirdly lucky in that mine kicked in at some point as a kid (never have figured out exactly when or why), so I don't remember true silence well enough to miss it as badly as I otherwise would.
Maybe one day science finds a way to give us our peace back, and til then, hopefully we can all find some relief with stuff like this.

@veronica@explains.social I second all of this, Debian's great! It's the first distro I've run nearly full time on my desktop for several years now. I feel like I was able to comfortably learn a lot of Linux fundamentals without getting too in over my head because it's so stable and yet flexible.
