I started on Mint, then Manjaro to get the grasp of how an Arch based distro operates, but then I just went in for full blown arch I would recommend if you have some linux experience to just dive into Arch, and to not use the included installer... as it has problems. The Arch install guide is super useful for getting everything up and running, with a minor caveat that secure boot doesnt really work, and setting up the bootloader is a ballache
