@waterkip@defcon.social if you want Composer to always treat your environment like PHP 8.2, you can set the PHP platform configuration:

composer config platform.php 8.2.0

Which sets this in the composer.json:

@waterkip@defcon.social @alessandrolai@phpc.social depending on what kind of scaffolding that "create-project" template does, you may also get away by first running "create-project", then configuring the platform for 8.2 and then running "composer update" to adjust any dependencies to PHP 8.2

@waterkip@defcon.social @alessandrolai@phpc.social the platform check can be ignored/skipped with a Composer "update" argument ("--ignore-platform-reqs" or similar). But this has become a whole lot of effort for working around Composer. The Docker approach in your blog post is definitely the better and more stable approach

@alessandrolai@phpc.social @waterkip@defcon.social in the blog post the following command is used: composer create-project laravel/laravel:^12.0 Laravel 12 supports PHP 8.2, so the downgrade should work, right?
