My contacts are saying "I like this, I bet my contacts would like it too" and that is way smarter than any algorithm.

@erin@mstdn.ca Sounds like someone is saying the quiet part out loud. That still makes that person an asshole.

As long as certain people can maintain their lifestyles uninterrupted, it's someone else's problem.

I remember being shocked learning about climate change in high school (class of '01). Baby boomers have done next to nothing about it since.

This is my last post on the mstdn.ca instance. I have very much appreciated being part of this instance, and I look forward to continued conversations with the people here!

The latest Deadpool movie pulled in a record $430M worldwide during it's opening weekend.

For better or worse, I guess we're getting a lot more movies like that. They'll make what people pay for.

Classic action movies that don't depend on CGI are dead IMHO. I mourn their loss.

Mom's house sit in Courtenay ends in a couple of weeks. She's coming back home in August to reset and get a few things done.

She very much wants to line up a winter-long house/pet sit in the area, possibly for a snowbird(s).

Another possible house sitting opportunity on Vancouver Island. They have a listing, but reached out to Mom directly.

Timing of it isn't great, but the lady seems like a really good connection to have, so they'll at least meet for tea.

Just booked a phone appt with my doctor for late August. She only does them Monday afternoons, and has ER duty in the mornings.

They book appts end of the month, and clearly they're almost booked already.

Always great talking and quickly catching up with her receptionist as well.

Got as much done as I could this evening, but the bees and hornets are out pollinating. When they want the plants, they can have 'em.

Mom got another first contact message from someone, this time for a 10-day house and pet sit. Her profile makes it VERY clear she is ONLY interested in one month or longer.

Yet people ask anyway.

Watched the second-last in-studio live recording of @TWiT@mastodon.social before they scale down and go completely remote due to dwindling advertising and a lack of listener and viewer support.

IMHO, it's something they should have done 5 years ago.

That said, many podcasts are suffering.

Just mowed the overdue back yard. Will spend some time tonight watering Mom's plants.

When she gets back in August, she'll whipper snipper, because I suck at doing that.

Recorded a podcast episode with @markcherrington@mstdn.ca this afternoon, and had two phone calls with Mom regarding a house sit she's considering.
