I've been on the fediverse since 2017, but have hopped instances a few times. I post about the media I consume, and am here to make friends. I watch a lot of movies & TV, but I also read comics, fewer books than I would like and play games (video and board, although less of those lately.)
I live in The Woods, but am not off the grid. I believe in the importance of physical media and buy lots of DVDs because of it.
Sometimes I consider myself a writer, and if you look around here you can see links to things I write.

@checkervest@laserdisc.party happy birthday! I took some extra time to oil and brush my beard this morning.

@checkervest@laserdisc.party well now I'm going to think about this person a lot too. Did they never stain their hands making beets? get some blueberry juice on their lips? I have enough imagination to go from that experience to at least imagine the possibility of manufacturing dyes with natural things

@researchfairy@scholar.social I use and like @Feditext@mastodon.social which is in open beta, so it requires using TestFlight (the iOS beta app). But I’ve used it for a couple years now and it does everything I want (including displaying alt text easily)

@sidd_harth0_5h4h @checkervest I watched the first Ryan Gosling episode of Flash Forward and now I can confidently answer hell no

@checkervest I haven’t voted yet, but scrolling through his filmography the only likely option is his multiple episode appearance on Disney Channel Original Series Flash Forward as “Scott with the good teeth.” But I need to do some research to confirm.

@LaserdiscTurtle@mas.to I have, but only because I knew a guy who went all in on them before the format war was lost.

This will be my only toot about the World Cup:
My coworker texted me to say the muppets were in the half time show. So I watched it. My review: Not enough muppets.
This has been my only toot about the World Cup.

@socketwench reminds me of when people were declaring mp3 dead as a format because the patents expired.
I’m reading more reviews of the new Hamlet and this one has a very silly line. Using the text of the play is not the “Baz Luhrmann route” https://www.themarysue.com/hamlet-review-a-smart-adaptation-that-sparks-but-doesnt-catch/

@emily_rugburn@lgbtqia.space fun stuff! I often try to theme my purchases, but I’m also pretty good at making up a theme to fit whichever movies I want to buy
Fedi hivemind: I need to buy a battery backup/UPS for my home computer(s) is there any guide out there that you have used* on picking the right size?
*I know how to use a search engine, I’m looking for personal experience

@naominovik I remember fondly picking up a battered mass market paperback copy of Throne of Jade at my local library, it was clear how many people before me had also loved the book.

@naominovik@mstdn.party yay, thanks! I submitted the info, let me know if if it didn’t go through, there was a little weirdness on submission.
New T-shirt arrived. Also a pretty good motto.
Strange Brew costs 4 tickets on Kanopy? I might as well go buy the blu ray.
Narrator: While most movies on Kanopy only “cost” 2 tickets, it should be noted that they are still free with his library card, Kevin gets 15 a month and rarely uses them all.
#MovieClub is giving me some strong #WrongFrogs choices this go round.
