The sky was remarkable tonight. Geo sat and watched the sky turn colors. He would turn and look at me like, you catchin' this, too?! #DogsOfMastodon #DeafDog
As each day passes, Geo spends more time in this calm space 💙

Adding "mud" to our list of handsigns. The gentle rain became a downpour. At least it's not 2 am 💙

(AltText: looking up to a small brown bird sitting on some dried bamboo branches. Sky is blue with wispy clouds. Bird's body bounces with series of high and low warbles. A crow passes overhead out of frame with a deeper call. Gentle sunshine on bird, branches, and green leaves.

Fellow Californians, get on the phones to Senators Schiff & Padilla & your house rep. Demand they block this horrid ecosystem destroying venture.
Phone numbers for House and Senate offices, both voice and TTY, are available by calling the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 (voice) or 202-224-3091 (TTY)

Open quoted postWhen Geo adopted us at 3 months old, we quickly learned he had a habit of burying his treasures. This morning, he had a taste of buttered toast. At 13 months, he still takes good care of the treasures

May you find rest tonight
Geo just made a smooth mid air catch of one of his favorite toys. He immediately ended our fetch game, came over, and laid down with it. I'd like to think he's savoring the feeling. Remember to celebrate the small moments 💕

Via Supervisor Barger:
"Fire survivors, in partnership with a UCLA research team, are building the nation’s first public record of which insurers paid what they owed, which left families underinsured, how companies are handling smoke damage, and which insurers delayed, denied, or underpaid. The survey takes about 15 minutes and every kind of experience matters, including if your insurer did right by you..."

Geo & the family made it thru needing an unexpected plumber visit. Another new experience. Plumbers were patient & kind ✌️

Visual echoes
Often times, I take pictures when flowers and insects sway with the wind. This time, feels like the Rudbeckia caught the morning sunbeams.

@fonecokid@c.im ZZ you're so kind, I don't think you ever miss giving Geo a ❤️ reply, thank you :)
Preparing for extreme heat again. Harvested about a dozen figs. Watered tree & other food crops. The native buckwheats are holding up and still producing blooms for the pollinators. #gardening #zone10b
Patiently waiting for any chance of a short walk between bad air and hot morning starting. The morning after Geo's first fourth of july fireworks. Keeping curtains closed, air filters whirring on high, and trying to keep a normal activity pattern helped- until the smells were undeniable. So it's been an unsettled time since 9 pm yesterday. #DogsOfMastodon #DeafDog #Geo

@handmade_ghost@sunny.garden yes! I can relate. What a sweet bird to be your first to know by sight & sound. A few weeks back, I saw one sitting quietly, very briefly, on a stake in the yard. Wasn't sure if it was a wren. Been hearing it singing and couldn't find it. Started looking up at all the trees, and shrubs. Cupping my ears to try and get a better idea of location. So glad I didn't scare it away today!

Our family uses 👍🏻 as the marker.
Reinforcers can be food, toy, activity, or praise. A combo we use a lot is 👍🏻, then 🤟 because Geo naturally checks in a lot on his own with us as a herding breed. If someone ever gives you 👍🏻🤟, then that's probably me meeting you in the world beyond the screen. I find myself doing these hand combos a lot wherever I go 🤣

'Today through Saturday, widespread elevated to brief critical
conditions will be common across the interior valleys, mountains,
and deserts due to hot, dry, and breezy onshore conditions with an
increased risk for large plume dominated fire behavior and rapid
fire growth due to deep mixing heights.'
I'm on quite a few email lists as you might imagine. For every one I receive about the danger of fireworks AND how to still have fun, I'm emailing the PIOs back with the following...
Dear ,
What would it take for Los Angeles County to lead California in banning fireworks? could make a generational difference.

@Ashmire@pagan.plus I'm the same. No seedlings yet. The nursery I got giganteum from said they get lots of seedlings from theirs. Fingers crossed.
Replying to
@Ashmire@pagan.plus by spread, do you mean naturally go to seed and get seedlings everywhere, or the plant's width? All of mine are thankfully growing pretty equally in roundish mounds.
