the world cup fever has reached the cave.... because of the time zone difference, I could only catch up the next day, and that worked well for me until now. 3 goals in 11 minutes after trailing 2-0 the entire time, phew! -- nervous wreck I was...
Been looking for aarch64 VPSs for a while. AWS, Netcup, and Oracle Cloud were the ones still offering those at affordable pricing. netcup spec of 6VCPUs+8GB memory for 7.x euros is fine despite the aging CPU(Neoverse N1, ~2019). But the VMs were sold out for many months. Decided to check one more time before going with Oracle Cloud, and as luck would have it, arm64 VMs are available now on Netcup. After a couple of back-and-forth verification emails, the VM was up and running Debian stable. I use NetBSD on all my personal servers, and Netcup makes it quite easy to set it up: go to the server control panel, instance -> Media -> DVD Drive, and you can upload a custom ISO. I found the browser uploader to be flaky, but thankfully, they also provide an option to generate an upload URL to which you can curl the ISO. The UI helpfully generates a ready-to-paste curl command line. Once uploaded, it can be found in the custom ISO list and can be attached to the instance. A reboot later, the installer was running!
Note: the browser-based remote console is problematic to use as it lags and also registers duplicate key presses. Unhelpfully, the kernel modesetting makes the console output too large. You can zoom out or set the video mode (gop in bootloader) before the system boots into the installer. The installer finished quickly, and a reboot later (with the ISO detached from the DVD Media), the system was up and running!
There is a good chance that the system is overcommitted and will probably suffer from noisy neighbour issues, but I only use these VMs to squirrel stuff away and occasionally build and run tests.

After almost 2 weeks of wading through LLM output at ${DAYJOB}, it is extremely satisfying to watch tsoding mess around with Standard ML and that too using Moscow ML. Needed that!
