Here’s a silly hot take. Who called them poultry farmers and not chicken tenders?
I’ve never disqualified candidates for something as arbitrary as having an iced coffee in an interview. But here are other reasons why I did pass on designers:
- They told me my interview questions were stupid and told me what I should ask instead
- That kept talking down to another interviewer
I’m very go with the flow as long as I know where it’s going and who’s gonna be there and if there are snacks
Hell yeah, Larry’s back to dip his murder-toes in the water. My dog likes to chase him off, which I keep telling him is a bad idea.
Need some new thoughts in my feeds, so who’re you enjoying reading? Topics I like: interpersonal relationships, tough convos, design practice. Always down for something funny.
It's okay to miss things sometimes, even if they were bad for you. Your old life, ex-friends, past lovers, family you don't speak to anymore--they were part of your experience that led you to where you are right now.
Happy Boards of Canada weekend to all who celebrate
@enron@tilde.zone @i_dabble@merveilles.town I can see how you’d connect those, but I believe the reality is most* companies and tech weren’t built to explicitly enable this, they just weren’t built carefully enough to avoid it.
- meta? With them, anything for a buck. Edit: I also need to acknowledge Niantic here.
Here are some random thoughts on Ai in creativity.
Seeing Scorsese embrace it for film is disheartening. It’s typical of above the line talent to do things that further marginalize below the line crew for profit. It’s selfish and stupid. Do your own storyboards. The low fidelity is the point you goon.
I’m glad newer directors like Parsons are pushing back against it. Because here comes The Great Homogeneity.
I got smooched by a wolf. An actual real life one. (You may not know this about me, but this isn’t the first time it’s happened)
I think I may be done with public design portfolios. AI crawlers do too good a job of gobbling up everyone’s work and thoughts. It’s gonna be slide decks from here on in.
I do think I’ll keep something written…somewhere, but if I ever submit for jobs again it’ll be in deck form.
Sharing that I took my first bike ride of the year today. And that it felt good. I hope I can keep this going. 🥰
Telling me you asked ChatGPT is the best way to get anyone to not really engage with you because you didn’t meaningfully engage with the topic in the first place
If you're in engineering, product management, or design, do you use AI in your work? Do you hate it? Do you love it? Do you find it to be inevitable?
