@deprecated_ii@poa.st What engineers are left aren't like they used to be. Case in point: I'm inspecting a recently installed PLC cabinet and grab the drawings to check on some sensor loops. So I look at the loop diagrams and see that they put the fuse on the negative side of each loop. So the positive side from the PLC out to the sensor and back has fuck-all for protection from short circuits. At least one engineer had to have seen the drawings prior to building this thing, this is just basic shit yet they fucking missed it.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st I'll look into the STM32 since that seems to be popular for 3d printing hardware. I already had AVR stuff in hand though so I figured I'd start there.

After a long hiatus I've decided to get back into doing shit with electronics. I've decided on learning to program on an atmega328. After much fucking around with a cheap-ass chinese usbasp I figured out that the chip I had was preloaded with the Arduino bootloader and needed an external crystal to run. I found out that a 14Mhz crystal works ok if you don't have a 16Mhz. On top of that, the cheap chinese usbasp had old, shitty firmware that kept giving me annoying warnings. So I ended up having to flash the firmware to fix that. Good thing I bought two of those things. After all that I finally got the fucking thing to blink the LED on its internal clock after figuring out how to reset the internal "fuses" to factory defaults. Yay me. Anyways, I'd like to try something simple for writing the code, anyone have any recommendations? @deprecated_ii@poa.st ?

That was the first thing I thought when I heard about the SPLC indictment. If they do it it's a crime. If the FBI does it, it's part of a legitimate investigation.

I still have a shirt or two from over 20 years ago. Nothing I've bought over the past 10 years has lasted. Even the new Thorlo brand socks I bought don't feel as good as the ones I bought 15 years ago.

Yep. Everything has been fake and gay for a long time. It will only end when we don't have infinite credit to throw around and people have to actually produce results.
