mastodon 4.7.3Hi, I'm John. I code for work and play guitar for fun. I'm also interested in sustainability and infosec. Been lurking on the Fediverse since identi.ca, never had a Twitter account. I boost a lot more than I post.

@Mastodon hmm, nice, but shouldn't the "Create an account" link go to https://joinmastodon.org/ rather than https://mastodon.social/auth/sign_up ?

@JulianOliver@mastodon.social @mikebabcock@floss.social I wouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt either. But I can't help wondering if they're settling this to avoid being forced to explain how it *really* works.
Oh good, we're now at the Long Island Iced Blockchain stage of the AI hype cycle

@gustavo @adbenitez @Mastodon yes, or so they said: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2026/02/mastodon-is-for-the-people/#default-server-recommendations-and-server-discovery
but the button they're referring to is on https://joinmastodon.org/ which this link doesn't even point to
like, they could point it to https://joinmastodon.org/ *now*, and it would still effectively send people to mastodon.social, but at least that way when they fix that it would fix this too

@audiointerface tbh, they haven't a clue what a podcast actually is to begin with ("narrative audio journalism and roundtable discussions"?! no, it's an RSS feed with enclosures), and I'd be quite happy if they'd stop referring to Spotify and YouTube exclusives using a term that categorically doesn't apply to them

@janwwbosch @TheJournal I've lived here my whole life and only found out about this a few years ago thanks to a bug in a calendar app that didn't handle negative offsets correctly
