Ted Nelson's Dream Machines (1974)
You CAN and MUST understand computers now!
Half the book was a manifesto to personal computing self-published in the year that home computer kits started becoming available.
The other dedicated to Nelson's research project (Project Xanadu) where he introduced the concept of hypertext and hypermedia.
Nelson's hypertext went on to inspire the creation of the World Wide Web, a project Nelson never felt fully captured his vision.

Software engineers are experiencing massive disruption right now. We're all being told to adopt AI coding tools for productivity gains that are genuinely remarkable. But there's something nobody in our industry is talking about.
The US Copyright Office has advised that AI-generated code that lacks sufficient human creative authorship isn't copyrightable.
It's public domain.

I've been working through the memory requirements of Skate, my Scheme compiler for Z80/CP/M. We have to fit the program, its data and runtime support into 64 KiB, with operating system taking some of that space too.
Closures and automatic memory management make for an expressive way to program and making that practical on an eight-bit machine is a challenge I think is worth pursuing.
