sometimes I write code that is so shitty, it should be "git push"ed into a suppository;
but it is 100% human created code and I find joy in the creation. :)

@unknownpseudoartist@musician.social @mjj@mstdn.dk my introduction to microblogging was with identi.ca, and I was lead there by @methoddan@mastodon.social and @fabsh@streamers.social during the !LinuxOutlaws days.
For me the fediverse has always been a tightknit community of people who shared a passion for *something* Linuxy related, and it was sharing of non-linux stuff that brought a human-ness and a bonding to the community.
Now the fediverse has expanded massively, or so I am told, but at its heart is a small community. More specifically, it is a massive collection of small communities, with each 'community' being specific to 1 user.
My community on the fediverse is the one I make based on the accounts I follow. There is no algorithm 'suggesting' accounts and there are no ads. My fediverse community really hasn't changed that much in the past 16 years.
We probably had it easy back then; meeting on the LO forums, and then continuing on indenti.ca. But today? I have no clue how someone joining the fediverse finds/builds their community in a way that engages. It is easy enough to follow someone, but interactions with others can be difficult.
Now htat I think about it, Community needs to be more than just the fediverse, which is a good building block, but more blocks are needed to actually build. Recording for @hpr@infosec.exchange, sending feedback to podcast hosts, making and sharing things; all of this builds.
@evan@cosocial.ca started something amazing, and it helped me find "my people". @joeress@mastodon.social took the podcast torch, and created a podcast family that exposed me to new ideas, opinion, and tech.
The creating and sharing by others, inspires me to create and share; it is the soul of my community.
I stand on the shoulders of giants.

Here is my lousy timelapse from last night. The lens got covered with dew, the camera was aimed poorly, and the light settings were bunk.
I only caught the very beginning of the eclipse :/

Today I started working on a Control Box for my smart cabin. 5 buttons, with 2 actions each = 10 possible API requests.
If I skip the USB port and wire power directly to the board, a Raspberry Pi Pico W will fit in the box, and will convert button presses to API requests.
Python is in my future, as is swearing about soldering :)

@JoeRess@fosstodon.org sure, it's a ponzi scheme, but look on the bright side, it's a ponzi scheme that is destroying the only place in the entire universe where life exists.

@x1101@toot.community @windigo@mastodon.sdf.org prior to the introduction of the fruit "the orange" to the English speaking world, 'saffron' was used by english speakers to describe the color "orange". Thus orange and saffron, being the same color in a basic linguistic sense, are interchangeable when stating one's favorite color, but in terms of color, they are separate and distinct.
What really matters is how the asker of the question views the colors.

Dear fence manufacturers, you are allowed to say "100 meters", or "330 feet". Those are fairly common increments of linear measurement that contemporary humans use.
No one needs to know your fence roll is "20 Rod" in length.

Pride month means different things to different people. To me it is a celebration of some the splendid variety that humanity has to offer.
In that regard, I will say that AI should never be part of the celebration.
fucking never

If you want to build a thriving active community around your software/hardware product, Open Sourcing your software is a great first step.
After that, take a look at governance. How is the community run?
MySQL and OpenOffice are Open Source, and their governance is why MariaDB and LibreOffice are so popular.

well shit. I was hoping to get some groceries today; but the storm is here and the local news is all about cars sliding off the roadway.
The grocery store is at higher elevation than me, so it will have more snow, and I'd have to drive through a winding river canyon to get there.
No thanks, I'm fine with eating uh... today will be an interesting culinary day. :)

yesterday while sipping my coffee, I self-injected Ajovy, a 'once a month' migraine medicine.
This morning, I can still feel the headache that has been with me for the past 2.5 weeks, but there seems to be a pain ceiling that is limiting the free-for-all throbbing/stabbing in my head.
It is an odd feeling, but much appreciated.

@latenightlinux is it natural behavior for lute players (guitar, banjo, dombra, lute, etc) to make a "face" when playing high notes on the frets close to the instrument body, or is it a cultural/social construct that players perform due to ingrained societal expectations?

The next step in my fun little development project involves recording some sound effects, AKA creating art assets.
There are probably suitable audio files available online, but the goal is to find joy in creating, so I need to record 3 distinctly different 'tick' sounds for a metronome. Record 1 sound, and then tweak it in audacity is also an option.
Either way, I need to set up the indoor recording studio.
